Mama's Farmhouse Breakfast Menu Tour and Review 2024

Today we are at Mama's Farmhouse in Pigeon Forge, TN to sample and review their breakfast menu. At Mama's Farmhouse they do things differently than most all-you-can-eat restaurants. They serve their food family style, which means no buffet lines for you to stand in. Instead, at Mama's Farmhouse they bring the buffet to you!
Do the biscuits served at Mama's Farmhouse live up to the "biscuit creation" it calls “Mama Says Don’t say maybe to Chocolate Gravy” that won the "peoples choice award" at the 2015 "International Biscuit Festival?"

Hey guys, we’ve been wanting to go there but I haven’t seen recent reviews on it, so glad y’all did a review on it! Everything looked good, I agree with you Stacy, the biscuits looked a little hard, but everything else looked good! I didn’t know about chocolate gravy until I married into my husband’s family, my mother in law makes the best chocolate gravy! Matt, you need to get a great big soft biscuit with lots of butter and pour some of that hot chocolate gravy over it, sooo good! Well that is how we do it anyway, lol! Thanks for the great review! 😊

We were always taught to cut open or tear up our home made biscuits w/ our homemade Sausage gravy. I’ve seem some people just cover a whole entire biscuits. Matt..I think it’s all about what we all eat growing up. I use to eat scrambled eggs, now I can’t. I just up and quit eating eggs period. Guess all of us taste change over the months/ years.

I think you're right on bother accounts. What we eat growing up definitely informs our eating habits now, but our tastes to evolve. I (staci) used to be a VERY picky eater, but I've trained myself to eat foods that I wouldn't touch growing up-which was mainly veggies. Eating healthy is so hard but we have to try!

I’ve never had chocolate gravy and I just don’t think I’d want to try it…. just not my thing. The only chicken I want for breakfast is a Cajun fillet biscuit from Bojangles. Although I love bacon, sausage is my favorite breakfast meat as long as fatback or livermush or country ham isn’t available!! (Yes, I take blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds too)! I'll eat chicken or chicken tenders for lunch or dinner, but definitely not for breakfast! Also, I prefer bacon, especially crispy over-cooked bacon, over sausage. I have this love-hate relationship with sausage. Mom used to feed us mini sausage links, fried with gravy, with mashed potatoes. I hated them, abhorred them, and the feeling has stayed with me my whole life. And chocolate gravy...mmmmmmmmm!! I've never heard of it, but if it was placed in front of me, for sure I'd eat it like chocolate pudding!

Well if considering how often I use the meats.....BACON Bacon on all my potatoes, baked, fried, mashed....lol.....BLT, bacon grilled cheese, bacon on my salad, bacon gravy, bacon and eggs, on my pizza and best of all BACON CHEESEBURGERS. no to chicken in the morning. and those waffles looked freaking amazing!!!!! yes please :)

I love the theming of this restaurant inside and out. They have awesome biscuits there. I love crispy bacon! I'm laughing at you saying you just learned that you are supposed to eat chocolate gravy on a biscuit and not eat it like pudding. I believe that they won an award for their biscuits with the strawberry jam and chocolate gravy on it. Fun review!

It is a well themed restaurant inside and out. I'm glad we could make you laugh. You are correct, the restaurant claims on its website that a "biscuit creation" it calls “Mama Says Don’t say maybe to Chocolate Gravy” won the "peoples choice award" at the 2015 "International Biscuit Festival." I highly doubt the biscuits we were served would have won any awards though so don't think it is the same "biscuit creation" that won the award. They were not serving strawberry jam when we were there, and the article it cites on its website does not mention it, so I'm not sure what strawberry jam you are referring to. Award wining strawberry jam does sound delicious! 😋 The menu does list a "strawberry butter" but when we were there only "peach butter" was being served. The peach butter was good so I assume the strawberry would be too! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Food looked good. Did you all ever get to eat at Bennett's Barbecue Breakfast Bar? We discovered it years ago. We ate there every time we visited. It was a small bar, but the turn over rate kept it fresh. During the pandemic, they had a hard time getting workers. I wish they would bring it back. It was the best breakfast bar in the Smokies.

Never had chocolate gravy or tomato gravy. I was raised on the best sawmill gravy ever. Mom has been gone 30 years so I can’t ask how she made it

You should try it, you may like it. Not sure what you mean by "tomato gravy" but some people refer to pasta sauce or marinara sauce as "gravy." I'm so sorry for your loss. They say time heals all wounds but it doesn't heal them completely, at least in my opinion. I have the same issue with my grandmothers recipes so I can relate. My hubby tears his in half and puts gravy on both sides. It makes me so mad because I leave my biscuit whole and put gravy on it. He used twice as much gravy as me. I hardly get any gravy

I honestly don’t feel I’d like Chocolate gravy. I’ve never tried it before, maybe if I did try it I might surprise myself. I’d rather make some homemade Sausage gravy, I’ve tried mainly gravies that are somewhat meant for breakfast I’ve made at home or out to eat and just didn’t like them. Guess I must be spoiled by my mother’s homemade Sausage gravy. Well…shucks, it’s what happens.

We didn't ask them but the menu only lists "scrambled eggs" so maybe not. The Wood Grill buffet will make them however you want them. So if you are looking for eggs over easy in an all you can eat type of restaurant, maybe give them a try. Hope you are doing well.
