Bella It is important to place it in context though. You see them _now,_ after they’ve been forged in fire to become what they are now. But AFAIK three of them were “overweight” (i.e. normal weight by any sane standards), and all of them are very short (159-162.8cm, 62.5-64”). Moonbyul in particular dieted like a madman, after she was made aware of the issue in a very painful way. And Hwasa is tan and curvy and the exact opposite of typical Korean beauty standards (e.g. Blackpink Jisoo for reference), and had petitions written against her demanding her expulsion from the group. Queen as she is, she decided if she didn’t fit the beauty standard, she’ll just have to make a new one. tl;dr: partly true, partly overblown due to unreal expectations in the idol world.

It wasn't negative. Their agency was basically letting them know how the citizens of Korea would view them. Korea has these ridiculous "beauty standards" and in the eyes of Korea Mamamoo is in between average to ugly. Hwasa is considered "fat" in Korea when she is nowhere near fat. But they were warning them how they would be perceived. And that not to worry the way to the top was to work hard.

They are 4 extremelly talented friends that are crazy in love with each other hahahah i mean they love each other very much and it shows all the time. Wheein and Hwasa are best friends since middle school, and they say Moonbyul and Solar are the peaces that were missing in their lives. They are known as the vocal queens of Korea, and even other idols think they are one of the most talented and complet group out there, they compose their own songs, they coreograph some of their coreographys, they play many instruments, Wheein play drums and piano, Moonbyul plays piano and keyboard, Hwasa plays piano and guitar, Solar plays piano and eletric guitar, Solar can pole dance too. Please keep reacting to them, they wont fail to impress you, i want to ask you to react to Starry Night, Egotistic, Gogo Bebe, or Hip, for their live performances you can watch the immortal songs medley, or their MAMA 2018 performance is also amazing... i dont know there is so much good stuff to watch about them.
