Basically they are not from a big company name. And GG’s are in general less popular than BG’s. If they started in the big three they would have probably like 5+ times the fanbase especially due to promotions.

On the subject of why Mamamoo isn't more popular, although I think they are getting there, I think the German music producer Rahim who also does Mamamoo reactions accidentally put his finger on it... he mentioned that Blackpink and Twice songs are less complicated than Mamamoo songs, and I think that's it. There's a LOT going on in Mamamoo songs, and unless you have a taste for that, Mamamoo's not going to speak to you. Blackpink songs have all the subtlety of a sledgehammer and Twice songs are simple enough for a 5 year old to appreciate, but Mamamoo songs have depth. So I think you have to have a relatively high musical IQ to appreciate Mamamoo. I notice a LOT of musical professionals LOVE Mamamoo, including JYP himself.

Mamamoo is just everything you could ask in a group. Singing for them is easy as breathing. I recommend you to watch their MOOMOO TRIP REALITY SHOW episodes they were in few months ago for their 6th anniversary. It's hilarious and you'll learn more about their personalities too.

Since you've gotten to know the members and you're dying to see MMM in concert you might as well combine the two and watch their 15-20 min solo stages during last year's 4 Seasons F/W concerts. They're each about 15-20 min long. A channel called Lylux uploaded a pro quality vid of a complete 4+ hour long concert with Eng subtitles when the members talk to the audience (very helpful, esp for The Hwasa Show, as she called her stage). Here's the vid title and member timestamps: Mamamoo 4S F/W Concert Complete (Eng Sub): Moonbyul 1:12:33; Wheein 1:32:00; Hwasa 1:46:54; Solar 2:12:12. Sorry if I've given you this info before but this is iconic, must-see stuff for any moomoo. It's more evidence that a miracle took place when these four "non-idol material" rejects came together in one group and re-wrote the book on what a female kpop idol looks like, acts like, and is capable of in performance.

It's generally more difficult for groups from small companies to get recognized regardless of their talent. And MAMAMOO fits exactly that. In addition, they debuted with a retro song, not pop. They don't cater to the typical visuals found in other kpop groups either. And lastly, they are a girl group. If you think groups from small companies have it bad for exposure, it's worse for girl groups from small companies. Especially in a patriarchal country like SoKor.

Wheein and Solar's Vocals were just Crazy I can't speak at all their voices are so Angelic, Hwasa's beautiful Jazzy voice was Amazing like always, and Moonbyul's Gorgeous deep voice always gets me and her Rap was on point, just Wow! And you can tell that they were really going at it you can see their Veins in their neck and just again Wow!
