at the 17 minute mark, Bubba was correct when he said Mama truly provided structure and that's a true grandma. That's why Mama's Family is so loved by everyone, and all walks of life

Awwww seeing Ken Berry so old is breaking my heart. I lost my Dad in 2020 and though they don't look alike, Ken has the same kind of vulnerability that Dad had. I think I'm going to cry.

I'm 60 & grew up on these guys. This was when comedy was at its finest. All Vicky & Carol had to do was put on a wig, no makeup nothing else they would transform into their characters, that was all they needed! Their shows bring back some really awesome memories & yet sad memories from my childhood. It's funny how they can take you all the way back, just like it was yesterday.. To see them all at the table just really makes me so happy. Although I know they're all not here today. I'm also happy these classics will last for eternity they will always be here with us for future generations. ❤️ 💋 ❤️

Here is the thing - Mama's Family was just FUN. Vicki said in other videos, "You don't have to think, you just sit back and laugh." It was the exact same thing with the Carol Burnett Show, where it originated from. Although with that it was more "Sit back and enjoy", as not all of it was funny, they had the more serious stuff with some of the songs sung by the great singers of the day. But with the Raytown Harpers and Iola...it was a beautiful satire. And they had Dave Powers, who directed 10 out of the 11 years of the Burnett Show, on Mama's Family for 4 of its 6 seasons - and Harvey Korman directed the first 2 seasons of it right?!

Those Mama skits on Carol Burnett were hilarious, but the way Vicki played Mama in the show was different and I never got into it. It's like they tried to make Mama nicer, and what was funny about her to begin with the caustically mean personality. Doesn't work with a nice-but-grumpy old lady.
@davisbowe8668Ай бұрын
I disagree. I liked it better when Mama had more of a personality rather than just a mean, cantankerous old woman. What I didn't care for was how they dumbed down Vint and Naomi in the later episodes.

I love Momma's Family but there is a myth being perpetrated by Marina Sirtis of Star Trek TNG, she thinks MF was the longest running "First Run Syndication" show, but they only did 4 of 6 seasons in syndication, totaling 130-ish half hour episodes, with a hiatus of 18+ months. Where as TNG ran all 7 season in syndication and made 178 hour long episodes.
