2022 BWCA Frost River Loop Trip Part 1

Join our family on our 2022 Frost River Loop Trip in the Boundary Waters. In part one we put in on the Cross River, make a few portages and go through Ham Lake, entering the BWCA at Entry Point #50 Cross Bay Lake. We stop at our first campsite (#558) on the south end of Cross Bay Lake across from the portage into Rib Lake. We spend a day in camp and visiting the waterfall along the portage between Cross Bay Lake and Rib Lake before moving to Long Island Lake Campsite #570.

Did this entry several years ago. Fantastic trip. I would do it again. If your doing the Frost River west of Frost Lake it’s a long day of portages and beaver dams and only one campsite along the way on the west end. Can’t wait for part 2.

@@MamasBasecamp If my memory serves me right, I think we crossed over 12+ beaver dams on our trip.

@@wiseoleowl5154 yes there were about 25 but half were paddle throughs. We climbed about 13.
