Yay! I love your grocery hauls! You sound so much better than you did in your last video already😊💜 Here in Australia, groceries are so expensive too. I think these prices would be quite comparable (I converted with Google and it says it’s $292 for any other Aussies reading this). Electricity has gone up a crazy amount too! Our last bill was $2000 (for 3 months)!! 😢

German living in NZ here - I know it was probably so much cheaper a few years ago, but I am almost crying at what you are getting for 175 Euros. I would never ever ever get that here, like never. I just shop at Pak'n'Save, even having the "luxury" to choose between two cities (we live between Rotorua and Tauranga) and choosing the one where the prices are cheaper (a bit ridiculous, it's a crazy difference). We are a family of three, so need a bit less, but I'd probably pay almost double at the moment for what you got. Still really sticking to the "buy what's in season" but yeah, not that successful at the moment. Thanks though for putting that video out there, as we might move to Germany and it is really helpful to see the prices at the moment. Cheers!

I agree Australian food prices are overpriced too. I visited family in Germany recently and Germans definitely get more products for their money. Though I do understand prices have gone up for them like the rest of the world. So Germany in comparison you're going great.
@AntoinetteEmily8 күн бұрын
It’s so interesting to hear your perspective as a German living in NZ! I can totally understand why you’d feel overwhelmed by the price differences. The cost of groceries can vary so much. Last time I was back in NZ (a few years ago) I found some of the prices were quite comparable to Germany, but the veggies and fruit were definitely more expensive in NZ. I'm sure prices have gone up even more since I was there. Shopping at Pak'n'Save is a great way to save some bucks, but it sounds like it can be quite the balancing act between Rotorua and Tauranga! Sticking to seasonal produce is definitely a smart move, my mum has always done that. Hopefully, things will improve on that front soon.

@ yes I totally agree with you! I also had the feeling at some point it was really comparable with German prices but somehow that changed again, sadly. I do understand of course that some products will just be more expensive here, it's just a little island haha. I don't understand dairy mostly, as we all know what a dairy country NZ is, we are even living on a farm, so have a bit of insights of the prices etc. It was definitely a change to start buying what's in season, as almost everything is always available in Germany for an okay-ish price, but I do like also like that it's just more realistic here, not everything can be bought all the time. But yes, hopefully it improves again soon - everywhere 😄
@Sophie_Abroad7 күн бұрын
@ Yes, Germany is doing quite okay, I hope it'll stay like that 😃 where are you in AUS? I heard that it can be a craazy difference of prices depending on the location. Here it's just really the problem, although it is everywhere problematic at the moment, it just really is nowhere to being reasonable. Like wages are not really increasing, although minimum wage goes up, but the difference to the increase in e.g. food prices is just so high, that it's still not enough if that makes sense? :( I love New Zealand so so much but as I'm not finding a job (looking for almost a year already in many different areas) I think we have to move to Germany, at least for a few years until it's a bit more "settled" again.

Pensioner in Germany. 175 is what I spend on vegetables, fruit, herbs, cheese, yogurt , bread and eggs per month at mixed Aldi/Lidl (they are across the street from each other). Poultry and fish are 1-2 times a week treats as they are 30% higher than before 2022. Btw Organic lemons were 99 cents for 4 this week.

Hey there! It sounds like you've got a great handle on your monthly grocery budget-175 euros for all those fresh goodies is impressive! Aldi and Lidl being right across from each other must make shopping super convenient, too. I totally get how poultry and fish can feel like special treats nowadays with prices going up. And wow, 99 cents for organic lemons is a steal!

I was in Germany in December visiting all my cousins and I found food more affordable there than in Australia and my husband said alcohol is so much cheaper, as in also way more affordable in Germany. You definitely get more products for your money in Germany. Food is very expensive in Australia. Oh I miss the bakeries in Germany as the breads, buns, pretzels and cakes are so delicious in Germany. The delis are so much better too with all the different varieties of cheeses and salamis etc. I did find fruit is fresher in Australia but oh my goodness I love the German apples.

I find it disrespectful to just call things in other countries "cheaper" when what matters is the price compared to the salary. The salaries in australia are around twice the salaries in germany and with lower taxes. You cant just look at the prices with your australian salary in mind, what matters is how are the prices when you have to pay it with a german salary. And the average german with a normal job after paying taxes, rent, energie etc just doesnt have much left and then its not "cheap" and she really is right about packages getting smaller and more expensive. And i dont even blame the companies for it, many are probably just trying to find ways to not get bankrupt. But dont just call german products cheap or cheaper with an australian salary in mind, thats not relevant.

@@Shark34500I didn't say German products are cheap in that sense.. I love the German products and quality. I meant the cost of food and alcohol in Germany is more affordable than in Australia. The cost of food and alcohol is ridiculously expensive in Australia in comparison. In Germany you get more products for your money. Hope that clears it up. German products are and have always been very good. I'm grateful we're finally getting some of it over here now.

@@AntoinetteEmilyabsolutely agree. I'm a German in Australia with a New Zealand husband so I find your videos interesting to watch. We love to travel back and forth between Germany and New Zealand to see family and friends and also enjoy it when they visit us.
