I never was a theater person, actually I used to hate musicals my entire life, and never heard any song from cats for sure, then, in christmas 2021, after almost two years of isolation due to pandemic, my daugther sang “memory” on our christmas eve celebration (the second one that we my wife and our two children celebrates alone, with the fear of the virus) … hear this song for first time and I almost cried when I hear the sweet voice of my sweet child singing “is too easy to leave all alone with the memory of my days in the sun”… I did not just because it supposed to I am the man in the house, the one that must carry his family through hard times… but I cries in secret almost every time I heard this song. Now I am a true fan from “cats” and theater, I take my daughter to broadway to see Hamilton and Chicago, and past week we finally attend “Cats”, such an amazing show.

My old *slight* criticisms are that I wish she had held back a little with the belting and emotion in the first half of the song. I think it would have made the climax even more powerful. I wish she changed her affect a little more- at the beginning, she already seems pretty broken and desperate, so by the time she sings the climax, it doesn't have AS much of an emotional impact. But I'm just a fan who's nit-picky with her Griz's ;) She's still pretty great!

@@derogatonyI have a friend who's a bit of an expert on the show and she said that the microphones are usually turned up when the actress begins to sing, so that's why it sounds a little louder. When I saw a local production, they turned up the microphone right before she belted "touch me!"....and it was so powerful, I jumped in my seat. I wish they did that for tour.

Wonder Boy She can still be emotional, but in a more....quiet way. Imagine if she sang it softer and more reserved, but then at the climax belted her lungs out and poured out all her emotion. That’s how I like the song performed- it’s more emotionally impactful.
