It’s not about just being able to hit the notes, this performance has the weight of life experience behind it, what it lacks in technical excellence is more than made up by the artistry and weariness conveyed through the vocals imo. I always feel a dissonance when a young attractive singer with perfect vocals sings something like “I was beautiful then”, “all alone in the memory of my days in the sun”. The whole song is about someone past their prime years, I think only somebody past their prime years in real life can truly do this song justice.

If you look closely and pay good attention to Andrew near the beginning he takes a big gulp, swallowing his tears, hence his 'gnawing' throughout the performance. This happens to me also, but I can't stop the tears no matter how hard I try to, I find it better and more therapeutic to just let them fly away as they will. There is no shame when you witness such beauty. I had the pleasure of seeing Sarah live in March of 2001 during her La Luna tour. I still have this vivid memory of her wrapped in a large red cloth that nearly covered the whole stage and I also remember her floating above the stage in a long silk dress. It was quite the production and was truly enchanting, and I was awe struck the whole time. Magnificent!

I saw two of Sarah Brightman's shows - Luna also being one of them..and there is no one like her. Absolutely two of the best shows I have seen in my lifetime. Love her so much and love how theatrical she is with her eyes and her face and always reminds me of Kate Bush - another superstar.
@intheory97724 жыл бұрын
@@singtweetypie You have superb tastes. Best show I've ever been to also, and the only one I really remember, though I haven't been to very many. I was also much younger than most of the attendees. I guess she just transfixed me into such a trance that I will never forget those precious hours.
@singtweetypie4 жыл бұрын
@InTheory. Thank you. I have been to many shows and hers still stand out in my mind as something so incredibly special. I still remember Sarah introducing a then unknown singer called Josh Groban during her La Luna concert in Toronto - and singing with him. It was magic. I also saw 'Harem' another of her absolutely spectacular shows. I had/have all her albums and played them non stop (along with Bocelli) for my then young children so they would learn to appreciate all types of music. In 2000 she apparently outsold both Elton John and the Rolling Stones in album sales - so clearly - many loved her voice and her music just as much as you and I do.
@intheory97724 жыл бұрын
@@singtweetypie Magic is the perfect word to describe her and her talent as a singer and a performer, and just the person she is in life. I hope these forms of art don't die out because of lack of interest of the younger generation AKA movie fanatics. I can barely watch many new movies because of all the CGI incorporated and relied upon in so many films today and the super hero genre though very popular doesnt interest me in the least. Nor do many remakes and reboots. I enjoy movies that make you feel something deep inside like many classics and many independent and foreign films. TCM is on all day for me no matter what I am doing. I feel these classics make me smarter and somewhat worldly. One of my all time recent favorites is Amelie. It's a beautiful story with amazing actors and a fantastic director and it is so very relatable to me and my life. There are many good performers and singers today, but it is an all out assault on the senses and not much serenity in it or worldly knowledge. I've seen Romeo and Juliet and The Phantom of the Opera live shows twice in my lifetime and would love a resurgence of both The Phantom and I would still love to see a live performance of Cats by real Broadway stars and there are others I would love to see also that I can't think of right now. Seeing live shows like this opens the mind, the heart, and all the senses. I would also love to see a Philharmonic orchestra of some kind in my lifetime. There is nothing better than a room full of the best of the best instrumentalists putting on a live performance. I can only dream and hope. Thank you for the stimulating conversation. I wish you a bright future and many hopes and dreams to be realized in your life.🙂❤️
