In 1979 young Donna, Tanya and Rosie graduate from Oxford University -- leaving Donna free to embark on a series of adventures throughout Europe. On her journeys, she makes the acquaintances of Harry, Bill and Sam -- the latter whom she falls in love with, but he's also the man who breaks her heart. In the present day, Donna's pregnant daughter, Sophie, dreams of renovating a taverna while reuniting with her mother's old friends and boyfriends on the Greek island of Kalokairi.

Lily James said in a press conference that she aspired to be as fearless and uninhibited as Meryl Streep was in the first movie; she watched it over and over to be able to portray Donna with that fearlessness. I hadn't heard that when I first saw that movie, but I already felt that's exactly what made her performance so wonderful. Lily said she'd never felt so empowered as when she began rehearsing, dancing and singing with Jessica and Alexa. The 3 of them rocked this. Gorgeous.

I first met Lily when the Film "The Darkest Hour" was in progress then, I was with Lily when we filmed the first scene of the Mamma Mia 2, in France, then when we set up location in Oxford and later on, the last scene in Hampton Court Garden. She made the movie, without her it would have been a total flop. She is the most amazing young woman I ever met. Her smile, her voice, her good fun character and easy going attitude. Last we seen each other, I called her name and she run and jump in my arm for a kiss and cuddle. I never forget that moment. She is truly a fast climbing star, even if one or two movies she acted in where against her. Lily ? A1+++++++++++++
