Great video. The reason the reinforcing bars are left sticking up on those buildings is because in Greece they can avoid the local municipality tax since the building is deemed to be unfinished (ie it has no roof). An unfinished building (without a roof, as such) is deemed to be tax exempt. Alas it no longer applies.

À la carte means that you can order each menu item separately to make up your meal instead of a set 3 or 4 course meal. Small portions are usually those offered in a tasting menu of many courses.

Al a' carte is not small portions thats nouvelle cuisine xx it means individual portions and you can order as many dishes as you like as opposed to a set menu where there are a specific number xx you must have sweet blood Martin i only had two bites in 35 years i think they were frightened of me ha ha xx

For the insect bites get an After Bite stick. Works very well. IMO bites don't want touching, that's what causes the itching. Just use the stick as soon as you see a bite.

Minor thoughts are not missing bed planks etc. The room would not be acceptable as it is for me. Basic things not right. Really thought the a la carte looked horrible. I'd have left the lot and gone to the canteen 🤣. That lamb looked amazing. 👌

We did the same thing once when we were on hols. In the alacarte we had massive plates with tiny portions in the middle and pretty lines of sauce round the edge. Straight in the “canteen” after. Much better lol. Thanks for taking us with you. 👍👍

Loved this one too. After a rugby 🏉 match my husband and I ate at a fancy restaurant in the city. Not realising that and forgetting we had had a few drinks before we were loudly complaining about the small portions lol Common as Muck lol joke. We were so hungry afterwards we had a curry delivery at home lol. Our usual restaurant was full cost less and bigger portions. We did not appreciate the posh restaurant unfortunately

Martin that meal was not free it was included in the price of the holiday and quite frankly it looked awful.They are obviously just catering to the masses and don’t care too much……sending out a dead mussel is a no no. Anyway Thankyou for sharing your travels

Spent a Month in Benidorm once on a Winter break and not once had a win on the hotel bingo which was 10 games + an evening session. lol. It looked a bit quiet in that Italian restaurant . That's what i find. If its packed with locals . Its normally a good place.

Martin we were told in Greece if they don't finish the second / third floor they don't pay tax, thats why you see so many unfinished buildings .I would of not of touched that dish if that muscle was closed ,it would of put me off big time , looks like an awful place but I like Italian food ☺

Hi, I’ve heard those bars on top of the building are to escape tax when they have not completed building so they have left them on to avoid being taxed. But now they have to pay tax even if they’re still building. Not sure on how true this is though

That restaurant was certainly not A la carte the food looked awful food should always be served hot it didn't even look busy so no excuse. To be honest that hotel is not for me just my opinion but hey guys thanks for showing us and hope your bites improve Martin

A la Carte seems to mean something different in the US,it’s when every item is sold separately,if you order steak that’s what you get, a steak on a plate,you need to order the veg.and the starches separately,and they are usually big portions as you pay for each item you order.That menu you got at the Italian restaurant would be a set menu here,usually found on menus in the early evening 5-7 pm,often geared toward an older clientele.

At the end of the video I was waiting for Sharon to explode. Here in Thailand I use 'Off' mozzy repellant and for itchy bites, Fenistil gel, in a tube. I don't know if you can get it there, but it works. In the evenings wear long sleeve and long trousers. Re the shut mussel. I was expecting them to take it back and open it for you. 😀

I never got bitten when I lived in Spain 🇪🇸 until I bought Dove moisturiser that night they had a feast on me . Chucked it in the bin 🗑️. I hope you get some relief . I am glad you both enjoyed the hotel and Rhodes, I am not interested in how much it cost you lol and the faults in the room did need highlighting as Martin said maintenance is lacking and they reception need to know, I agree the Italian was a let down - the Island is Greek not Italian, anyone can make a good pizza. The hotel food did indeed look very acceptable for what it is - these places have to cater for many tastes and nationalities at the same time - it is not easy for them. A lot of people in my experience complain about food not being hot enough - well there are normally microwaves about to remedy that. We have just returned on Sat from Minorca our usual twice yearly retreat for over 30 yrs.

I swear word gets about in the mozzie community when I arrive, they get their knives and forks out and feast away. Although since I’ve discovered Avon’s Skin So Soft, I’ve been bite free. The tiramisu looks lovely but the rest, no thanks. Next time you go abroad start taking antihistamines about 3 days beforehand. It worked for me and I was often spending time in hot places
