Vegas Buffet Challenge: Running a half marathon after Vegas' Best Italian Buffet at Buddy V's

It's time for Vegas again and this time I'm participating in the 1/2 Marathon event that takes place on the Vegas Strip. My friend noticed I was getting a little round lately and suggested the Vegas marathon to off set things. How could I turn down an excuse to go to Vegas!
But before the run, we needed to fuel up and I can't think of a better way to get our nutrition than at a buffet! Buddy V's Ristorante at the Venetian offers an incredible Sunday Italian Brunch Buffet and I've always wanted to go but have put this off as I was expecting a lot of carbs. However, with the run, this would be the perfect opportunity. And I was also wrong about too many carbs at this buffet! Along with the amazing traditional pizzas (made to perfection by the way) and pastas, there were seafood, perfectly grilled steaks, and more. If you are in Vegas and manage to make a visit, make sure to get many slices that pepper crusted striploin from Orgo. So tender one can cut it with a butter knife. Great experience and don't forget about the desserts with the panna cottas, cannolis and more!

I ate a bowl of fruit for breakfast, 2 apple juices, and then half a milky way bar around 1pm with some water. How you ate all those delicious things a few hours before the race is amazing! I guess its true every runner knows whats best for themselves with their pre-race regimen! Well done!

According to Google, you should eat 3-4 hours before running 13 miles. Lots of carbs in Italian food. Glad you filled yourself up before your run. Bravo!

I'm impressed! All that food and then running. Did look so good I can see why you kept trying dishes. The broccoli, sausage and orecchiette is one of my favorite things to make. I use shell pasta as I cannot get orecchiette here. Hello from a very wet Oregon.

I completed a number of half marathons and 10k runs when I was much younger. I am a big man , and so whilst very fit at the time, ran pretty slowly. They nearly killed me. So, Kudos to you, Tim for taking part. You're still the most polite and courteous man on YT in my opinion.

How can you run 13 miles without any training? You know, build your endurance up before running a half of a marathon. My question is strictly one of curiosity. When I was in my early 20s and in really good shape, there is no way that I could have run 13 miles non-stop. I used to run 3 to 4 miles per day but even then, 13 miles would have been out of the question. Congrats on the accomplishment.

Thanks for coming back to the states Tim. congrats on finishing the race especially after gorging on all that food. Buddy V has a show in the states called Cake Boss and I will never patronize his shop or restaurants due to his arrogant behavior. Another viewer already referenced the time he was pulled over very drunk driving recklessy and berated the policeman that pulled him over for not knowing who he was and for not letting him go free.If I recommend not to go here I feel obliged for a better less expensive spot called 888 Japanese AYCE steakhouse. It's at Sprong Mountain and Decatur. Call ahead to get on the wait list. I have no affiliation with them at all except just ate there2 weeks ago and the flaming grill at each table was a treat .

OMG TIM!!! I am AMAZED you finished the run after all that food, you must have a strong constitution!! The most you are supposed to consume is a SMALL bowl of oatmeal 4 hours before!! I completed the Manitoba Marathon when I was 18 (26 miles) and that was incredibly tough...

I grew up in Winnipeg and graduated at 17 from High School did that Marathon when I was 18 and then joined the Army. I got shrapnel in my leg fighting in Kosovo so my running days are over, just weight-training these days, 3 days a week done in circuit-training fashion for cardio benefit as well (you end up sweating like crazy as it is basically non-stop)...
