Important update announcement... The signal issues may have been my fault! Where I installed the RTK, there was trees above it to one side. I didn't think the leaves would affect it that greatly, but it seems that may have been the case. I moved the RTK out into the middle of the front yard in the wide open and it performed much, much better mowing in the backyard. That just goes to show you how important it is to make sure there is no obstructions anywhere near the RTK and to install it in the most wide open location possible.

Got my Yuka last Monday. I fished up working away from the house and finally got it set up today. Assembled easily and quickly, it found the update and did that. Just to get it to do something, I set it next to the house behind the fence. I can tell you, next to the house and fence and under the trees will not work for anything. The RTK locked on to SATs and the indicator turned green. The Yuka never did find its position, which is what I expected it to do. Now I will try different positions around the house, but I think there are just too many trees. Tomorrow I will also look for a cheap sim card to see what that could do. Other than the dang Florida heat and humidity, It was a pretty fun hour playing with my new toy. I think the Momotion folks better start working on a TerraMow type system and ditch the satellites.

I'm really sad that I had to post a video that showed Yuka having some troubles with the reception and straight rows. I know that the mammotion team works hard, and theres no doubt in my mind that they will release a software update that addresses these things shortly. As a KZbin reviewer I have to show the good with the bad or nobody would trust my opinions. After the next update or two, I will remake a mowing video in the same area and see if it has improved.

I have the same issues, essentially the same situation but with a Luba 2. Pretty disappointed, feels like Yuka has a weaker satellite connection module. As it is designed for "suburban" lawns the receiver should be stronger as houses are so close to each other. Weird thing is, might have 25-28 coviewing satellites, strong signal but position is float instead of fix.

😂. ‘Flowerbed gate’. Great to see the setup. I got my Yuka to mow where Luba gets confused when it loses satellite in my rear lawn because of trees and of course the leaves, just like your dad’s. Now I know what to expect but as you said, they’ll refine the vision/satellite combination to make it seamless. Great video. M 🎉

After upgrading the software of the RTK, Yuka or both of them shut down the RTK and Yuka. Start up the RTK and then Yuka then Yuka will not loose position anymore. Have Yuka for some time now, and always lost position after an upgrade. With this method have no problems any more. Mammotion should mention that or improve the upgrades. 33:21

The first video I find for yuks that shows the typical problems, thank you for that! All others I found were either promotion or from fanboys that mainly show a perfectly working system. I experienced exactly the same issues when installing the system today. Without your video i would not even have been able to finish the installation as the manual is barely existing and the app is poorly translated to Germsn, so i got stuck already at the beginning at the point where also the RTK station needs an update but the app simply does bot tell. Thank you for the video, the honesty and the guidance!

I have faith in Mammotion and I'm sure Yuka will come up to speed with Luba after some updates. That being said, I'm also glad I know not to run out and upgrade. Yuka leaves the same strips as my Luba 1 does. My Luba 1 is set to 9.8" and it started leaving uncut strips after one of the major updates this summer. Never did that before. It doesn't cut perfectly straight lines anymore either. If there is a straight line then a wavy spot then back straight and it repeats that pattern. Seems like a match error or something that didn't previously exist. Luba 1 approached and turns around much closer to the charger than it used to.

I think your main RTK needs to be further away from the trees and above the edge of the roof or further away from the house. I think its supposed to have the best visibility of the skies in order to reference the yuka with less visibility.

@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman 25 күн бұрын
@@blcje123 That would certainly be a strange matchup, They're not really in the same class. Yarbo is about three or four times the price. it's so much larger and can do many more things besides mowing. I have a worry that Yarbo might not be the best at lawn mowing. You know, there's a saying, Jack of all trades, master of none. I feel like it's too large to mow smaller yards, especially with the tracks. It might be great for big yards though.

When you upgrade the RTK, Yuka or both, shut down the RTK and Yuka for about 15 minutes. Then reboot the RTK and then Yuka. Then she will no longer loose position. Found this out after several upgrades where Yuka father that always lost position. Think Mammotion should mention that or improve the software upgrades.

For YUKA to maintain a position fix, it needs to receive GPS correction message data for the satellites it can see, which, because of all the trees, will be limited. The reference station can achieve a fine GPS reception, but to a different set of satellites than what YUKA can see. Putting the RTK unit on the roof with a better view of the sky will provide better satellite reception overlap with YUKA resulting in less position loss.
@Crazypostman
@Crazypostman Ай бұрын
@@MsAjax409 The reference station shows it's receiving a fine signal and about 40 satellites. But just for grins and testing purposes, I will move the reference station into the wide open and we'll run this under the trees again and see if it performs the same or better.
@MsAjax409
@MsAjax409 Ай бұрын
@@Crazypostman Good idea. Remember, however, that when you change the location of the base station, it has to accurately re-estblish its lat/long coordinates. That can take several hours. You also have to create a new map since the map you now have is referenced to the original base station location. Sorry, I know you know all this, but many people just getting into autonomous mowers may not be.

@@MsAjax409 You were correct! I moved the RTK station out to a better wide open location and Yuka performed perfectly in the same locations that it was having trouble before. The issue with satellite reception may be due to the location of the Yuka RTK reference station. Honestly, I cringed a little bit when I saw how close it was to the house and fence. Since you have the Luba's RTK on the roof, it makes sense that it would have much better co-viewing satellite performance.

@@Crazypostman Maybe the new Yuka RTK has better reception than the Luba 1 RTK, but the house might be blocking some satellites that are critical to positioning of the Yuka. I've only had mine a few days, but so far I'm impressed with it. My RTK is not it the best spot either, but I'm planning on mounting it on the roof soon. I'm also wondering if Mammotion should reduce the distance that Yuka can continue mowing on vision only, at least until they get it working more reliably. What’s the camera for If it ignores using it and runs into objects, baffling result on the plant, also with the vision only and cut lines, sure maybe software adjustment can fix it, or a reboot of all devices as mentioned already, otherwise, I wonder if multiple higher sensitivity gps sensors on the mowers in an array all calculating position referencing off one another for accuracy with more likelihood of getting signals through leaves could be the real solution, not just for trees but also for metal objects eg fences, as the camera solution is only truly effective if it can do 2 things, identify uncut grass to guide the path without signal and identify all other objects as not grass and avoid it. It would really just be a good thing if the sensors could be used to avoid all contact with precision, measuring distance while factoring in spacial awareness of the mowers dimensions which is easy to do with an array of sensors designed to avoid objects at set distances on each sensor and cause a shift in direction as much as required, rather than a preset significant avoidance manoeuvre, this way you can map close to anything and the mower will never touch, simply adjust based on sensors or camera. Also I think it’s a dying method to use a camera with distance limitation in bad signal areas, most will end up with a mower that stops every time until attended to.

Don`t get me wrong, but you have set up the RTK right next to the station underneath the trees. So there is obviously a poor reception to any satellite. Same as to Yuka. There is no need to wonder about the poor performance of Yuka in the first place.

@@volkerkorb538 The RTK station has never said anything other than fine signal reception. Also it receives more satellites than the other one that's on the roof. But all of these things can be tested. I can put this rtk right next to the other one and then have them run at the same time.

Well, you were right! I moved the RTK out way in the front yard so nothing was near it. I didn't gain any satellites, but Yuka performed perfectly in the same location. So obviously the quality of the signal it was receiving was improved. Maybe the SNR. They really should show Signal Quality in the app besides just number of satellites. Because if ones you are receiving have crap signal there's no use to show it. This is a little extra proof to the dummies that are putting it in their attic That that is a bad idea. If some leaves can attenuate the signal enough to screw up positioning, imagine what a sheet of plywood and some shingles are doing.
