What an absolute legend Jakob is, incredible how he can deliver at such a high level in all disciplines. On a different note I heard he plays Chess and League of legends also, can we get a film of his performance there as well?

Quick reminder, that Jakob Schubert won his first gold medals in a year some athletes on the current world stage weren't even born. And he still delivers. That's just insane.

Quick reminder that the (relatively modern!) notion of athletes having to be in their teens or early 20s to perform the best is being challenged in multiple disciplines, not just climbing. He shares that stage of way-older-than-average record-breaking and competition crushing athletes with other world class people like Simone Biles, Tom Brady, Eliud Kipchoge, ...

jakob and adam's relationship is truly unique when it comes to sports. it so cool to see two of the best athletes of their generation be such good friends. adam saying he would be as motivated if he didn't have jakob. jakob saying he remodeled his climbing to adams style. and they shared the BIG project together. i don't think I've ever seen such friendly and groundbreaking competetion between athletes before.

Jakob's 2023 is something I am not sure will ever be repeated but it was crazy year. And he even released videos of Mallorca climbing Es Pontas and Alasha so it seemed like he did even more that year (Even without DWS vids he did something none can even dream of I think). Well done Jakob. I think you have still SO MUCH going forward for you and I am excited to see what vids will you upload now that olympics are behind us.

I think Jakob recently has surpassed Ondra as The greatest climber around, the Olympics cemented that for me.
@uriesquena3 ай бұрын
I think in terms of rock climbing (without competitions) I still see Ondra as the greatest. It is true that the level of Jakob last year was above Ondra's, but the legacy of Ondra is still something no climber will approach in the next years I think. Things like: three 9a onsight, a 9a+ flash, several 9b and 9b+ establishing the FA in many of them, and the obvious one, the world's first 9c. Also some iconic ascents like the Dawn Wall or sending 9a on trad gear are some things to consider.
@chaozzah3 ай бұрын
@@uriesquena Ondra is crazy, because of the width of his climbing. The stupid amount of first ascents, routes bolted, trad, sport, bouldering (Terra Nova still unrepeated!). I will admit that it seems he's lost his edge, but I agree it'll take a while for his legacy to be taken over. He can grow it, by being the oldest to climb grade X!
