The clamp which actually holds your phone is NON ADJUSTABLE, meaning it only opens and closes and cannot be adjusted to fit whatever phone is to be held. If you have your phone in a protective case, it will not fit in this clamp. If you have a popsocket on the back of your phone, even if you remove the knob part, the phone will not fit in this clamp. The device is lightweight but this means that if you do not have the phone perfectly balanced in the clamp then it will struggle to adjust the phone position automatically. So if your phone has a power button right where the clamp closes on the phone you are out of luck. The clamp's depth does not adjust to reach around anything but the thinnest phone, and even then it needs to be clean of any attachment. I haven't gotten to use the features of this thing yet because I'm still trying to improvise a way to get the clamp to actually hold my phone without pressing the power button!

One other thing I'd point out is there is that this device is difficult to use as a simple selfie stick, because the main head that holds the phone when in the fixed position is facing away from the user and cannot be bent toward them. The only way to have the phone held at an angle at the end of the stick so you can shoot yourself is to turn on the gimbal. An additional selfie stick is going to be needed if one wants to use one without the gimbal engaged. The product looks nice and has good quality and great packaging, while the flaws I've encountered could be easily redesigned in future versions. Thank you again!

I've used the Smooth-X with an iPhone 12 Pro Max in a clear, soft cover. The phone fits the clamp very tightly and securely--but only just! Balancing the phone in the clamp can be a little tricky, due to both the tight fit and the fact that the power button comes so close to being clamped too...

Hi Mamo. Great Review. I managed to get the Combo pack. As you mentioned, it take more than just a bit of practice to get used to it. It freaks out with the tracking mode. It is very annoying indeed. Would you say that it is better to use an Apple phone with the Smooth X.?

Hi Ken, thanks for the update. My friend Sam, in the review tried with the I-Phone and I am not sure it will change much, in terms of practicing with the gimbal and overall stabilisation. The only difference that Zhiyun mentioned to me is the tracking mode. They are aware that on Android it doesn't work very well and works better with I-phone....but to be honest I cannot confirm. Sorry

I am using Samsung A51 phone. I installed the ZY cami App for my Smooth X gimbal. When I am taking videos using app, the video shows delay? Can u suggest any idea to solve this issue?

Hello Rajesh. Thanks for the comment. I am not sure how to help actually but I had some small delays too. It does the same also when Ibuse the Gopro so I think it is just a normal latency when previewing videos on a different monitor via wifi. You can contact Zhiyun directly for technical issues too.
