I have just finished repairing and restoring an S E 3 and agree that a tiny tweek of the timing makes quite a big difference. It will now run smoothly at very high speed (not something to do for too long!) and also "ticks over" very slowly. A good tip!

Ha!. My first stationary is a 1976-77 Mamod Minor 2 solid fuel. Just now picked up a 1970's black lever SE2a solid fuel that looks like very low run time. I believe the black lever on the reverser and black finger pad on the solid fuel tray denotes a "imported to the USA" model. My Minor 2 also has a black finger pad on the fuel tray. Very nice video. Thanks for the pics/tips.

Great work! The first time i ran mine it was on new years eve too! Just today I refurbished the engine (gave it an oil and a polish) I don't think it was as bad as yours though.

I mean, I don't think it was in such a bad condition as yours was.

I'm restoring an se2a and wonder if you could answer a couple of questions please - what type of primer did you use on the baseplate, and how exactly did you alter the timing? Thanks for the helpful videos.

Hi. Great video. Please could you tell me the colour or paint code for the red paint. Thanks. John.

I have 2 SE2a engines. One runs, the other is undergoing restoration. Love your films.

I'd also be interested in how you altered the timing

I have the same model. Nice clean up. Is the lever from the whistle missing?

Are these things worth any cash? I’ve got about twenty (stationary and tractor types) just wondering if I could sell them or just land fill them? Had them as a kid and just been found lying in a cardboard box.

What you do with them is up to you. ;-) Personally I’d test them all and list them on an auction site. Do some homework as to what each one is and go from there. It would be a shame to chuck something that someone may get a lot of joy from.

May I ask what was with the two whistles?
@AceEngineeringWorks11 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. It doesn't have two whistles, the left hand lever is for the regulator and the right hand is the whistle.

Oh I see thanks for clearing that up for me hahaha, It does resemble a whistle though

Richard Grant, by the tone of your comment I assume that you do not know how to do it....
