NYC prosecutors are starting to get some sense here. A couple of years ago a man killed his wife's rapist and they didn't even bring charges against him, only charged him for misdemeanor gun possession for which he only had to pay a fine.

My husband and all his cousins were sexually abused by the uncle, the baby of mamaw and papaw. He's creepy af, never wanted him around us. Karma does come knocking on the door though. He brags about his "young" wife. His wife is a fiery Argentinian. She hates him with every bone in her body. Doesn't let him get away with anything. Mocks his impotence. Puts him down every way she can. He's burnt all the bridges with the ones that can help him. He forgot that we would grow up. We all told our children what a creep he is, so all the young ones turn their back to him and will not acknowledge him. All these young ones were friends with the uncle's only son. Said son killed himself. Uncle Mike is old and the one that might help him hates his very guts.

My mother (born 1929) told this story. One day, when she was a child, her father (my grandfather) and some of his friends were sitting in the yard in back of the house. They were playing cards. All of a sudden, another one of their friends came around to the back yard. He had been severely beaten and said some guys were after him because they mistakenly thought he stole some money. He was asking if he could stay at my grandfather's house. Hearing the commotion and overhearing the conversation, my grandmother came to the back door and said no, this man could not stay at the house. So, feeling sorry for him, one of the other men playing cards said it was ok for this man to come to his house and stay for a while. A few days later, my grandparents learned that this man who had been beaten had raped another friend's 14-year-old daughter. It was this teenager's father that had severely beaten this man and was still looking for him. This man told a complete lie about why he had been beaten and was on the run. My grandfather was so glad my grandmother refused to let that man stay at their house. This rapist might have assaulted my mom or even my grandmother if he had been let into their house.

It takes a village to raise a child. When I was about 4 years old a man that was visiting my family lured me to the rooftop because there was a carnival across the street from us. He was caught trying to molest me by my mother who noticed I was suddenly missing. I can still remember it, my father and my uncle grabbed him and beat him up as they were kicking him down the stairs while my mother and aunts were checking me over. He didn’t get very far thank God, I could have ended up being thrown off the roof. After growing up and having children of my own, my motto is “trust no one” when it comes to your children.
