I nodded my head no. My Mom was making pancakes and was not about to give that up. I stayed away from that man after that. Some years later my family went back to those apartments to visit someone my parents knew and that same man was sitting on the steps. I told my parents years later about that experience and my Dad told me he told that man to stay away from his little girl. That was in 1974.

Every parent’s nightmare. Well done little lady, well done! Years ago when my eldest child was only 3, a couple tried to kidnap my son. I had already drummed into his little head that some people want to hurt children so he must scream his head off if anyone tries to take him. Fortunately there was CCTV footage and they were both arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping. It still gives me the chills to this day.

This same thing happened to me when I was 11 years old. My family was on a few week long road trip around the US. While in Texas, we decided to go over the boarder to Juarez, Mexico for one of those day trip van tours with an official tour guide. Upon one of our stops at an ancient cathedral church, I was a few paces away from my family, and the group, and a super drunk, super smelly, bum looking guy with a smashed in face, blood all over his face and body, snatched me out of nowhere, and began running away while dragging me. I fought back so hard, screamed, and went crazy on him. I got SCARIER than he clearly thought I would, because the guy let go of me, and he began sprinting away. My screaming caught my Dad’s attention, and my strong Superhero Dad chased him, and gave him (yet another) beating of a life time! My Father has since passed away from a sudden tragedy 11 years ago, but I often think about how my Dear ‘ole Dad, and my quick thinking from the skill lessons my parents instilled in me, saved me that day. I now teach my children this same lesson. It’s a must to teach your kids!

Don't be so quick to judge. You can't always be watching your children the best defense is to properly educate and yes try to keep an eye on them. However I think getting your kids to do chores is very important and at 6 your limited in what they can do. Taking out the garbage is an easy task in broad daylight. There is nothing wrong with that. This mother taught her kid how to react and that is the best thing she could do as a parent. We need to be executing sex offenders and properly educating our children!

I'll never forget playing with my nephew with autism at three years old with a nine year old girl prompting him to speak with another child. As I left the park the girl left all by herself and walked along with us telling me where she'd be riding her bike for the next 45 minutes route to get home. You'd be amazed how much kids even nine years old don't know what you aren't suppose to tell strangers. For all anyone knew I could have been dropping off my nephew at my sister's house and driving my car by myself to find her. I had to think for a while and then suddenly I began training her how to think if a car should stop or follow her while she was riding her bike home. I was then told by her that her four older brothers had all beeen playing basketball and had left her at the park by herself. I felt like those boys needed a good lesson on reality given to them as well. I mean I get with a disabled boy and being nice she felt I was a good guy and maybe her brothers felt the same looking at me, and indeed I am, but people need to train their kids.
