Yep, no job agencies back then that the company advertised through, plus companies did actually keep your CV in their drawer/ document rack if you sent it in or were an unsuccessful applicant. Whereas now, they keep things digitally and your records are either deleted or lost under piles of emails. My dad said he doesn't think he'd have gotten his 30 year long job if Indeed and these other sites had existed back then, since the company actually got back to him a month after an intial interview about a different, but similar, job they had coming up and allowed him to interview first and offered it to him on the spot from how well his last interview went.

And then I keep seeing the same job posting from the same company week after week and then when I ask they claim they are not hiring. Since the last three years the big probis that we lost a lot of our visa workers which is exactly what people want as a company; because those people can be taken advantage of. That's one of the biggest issues. And the biggest now issues come from tech where we no longer need in person staff to do a job but computers. And those jobs aren't replaced. Like self checkouts.

Just a few years, after being made redundant from my local airport after flybe collapsed collapsed, I got a part time warehouse job. I started this job a few years ago and it was a lot easier, even just a few years ago. Recently it seems they're knit picking any little negative they can find - gaps in your employment history, comments on your social media that don't always comply with wokeness and any convictions long spent, even if you previously worked for a long time after a minor offence. Another one is being turned down for positions you've already got years of experience for. It seems they want to create this low under class they can manipulate at will.
