The Allen bolt on the oil pump is a pressure relief spring you can usually add washers under them to raise oil pressure

Brad Cogan its an old trick but dont put too thick washer cuz too much oil pressure can blow out seals in some engines

No it's just a blank for the end of the oil gallery drilling, the pressure relief valve is accessed from the bottom of the pump to the side of the oil pickup

HKS did an uprated spring kit for the 4age oil pump for engines that were built to rev up to 10000 rpm to fit in there too.

I just rebuild 4age 20v Black Completely with no experience. Just download the engine service manual and you will be sweet. Hope you washed all the bearing destroying compound and metal shavings out of the head real good.!!! Got to stop it from spinning down into your valve guides as well.

The small port head is extremely rare in the US. Nice find! It reduced complexity (eliminating the TVIS), improved oil drainback, and (because of the pistons) increased the compression ratio relative to the large port engines. But not a huge advantage. You can always increase the compression ratio of your largeport 4AGE! The 7AGE build will be a big improvement, but use the 4AGE pistons and skim the deck or head to maintain squish.

The bolt on the oil pump is pressure relief valve. There is a big spring in there that can be altered or spaced to raise the pressure it opens.

Also since you have it you should take the valve cover with the oil fill off the other engine so you can have blow by vent on both sides of the head it's a really common Mod that 86 guys do over seas don't see it much on this side of the pound thou IDK why its a good cheap why to vent both sides of the head!!

LOL I'm glad I'm not the only one that didn't know how to drive a manual when they put their car together. After a year of owning my integra I decided to do a manual swap by myself. Took me 3 days and I had absolutely no help and no engine hoist. or transmission jacks. I'm pretty good at driving stick now, though. I don't think I'd be able to handle all that power at first, like the cressida.

Yeah kinda what I expected with the block when you said first time the engine had an issue. The early bigports are getting older every year (well over 30 years now). I'd always thought the 1800cc (thereabouts) was considered the 5AG, the 1900cc (thereabouts) the 7AG? Don't expect a massive power number from it, unless you are running boost or crazy high static CR and E85. More torque down low is nice tho. What combination of parts are you looking at for the bottom end?

I had the same one and it is a sport-tour bike, had my girl and 3 cases on the back. still rode sweet although a bit tilted backwards. the head weighs 10kg? such a small weight difference isn't something i would notice. sad i had to sell it! do you have a classic toyota or dreaming of buying one?

@@whyshouldipickaname I am actually building a mk3 supra. Punched the bore 1mm over and ported out the head really more work on the exhaust side. It has a what I like to say a "mad max" vibe widebody. After the gt35 turbo it should put down 600 safely. Cheers!

@@upfactoryracing4148 Nice! I've never done any engine work but i'm doing a 1uz swap into my ta23 celica. Also a widebody like yours. Still ways to go but that's a good thing i guess. Did you need to widen the bore because of pitting in the cylinder or to lower the compression? Cheers!

@@whyshouldipickaname there was some pitting but I wanted another bump in cylinder mass and we put in weisco 8.5 compression pistons. We are looking at pushing 30+ psi so needed to balance out for higher boost. Good luck on your build! 1uz v8 is a Boss engine.
