Man Attempts to DRIVE his Car Through the SEA! RNLI & SUP Rescue Mission at High Tide Mersea Island

This time last year I captured this bizarre scenario whilst out on my stand up paddle board around Mersea Island! 🏝 When the tide exceeds 5m the strood (only road connecting Mersea to the main land) floods 🌊
This person tried to drive through which ended up in an epic fail and had to be rescued by the RNLI! ❌🛥

There’s always one person who tries to drive through? WHY? Am I missing something? Is it that the road looks fine but then the tide comes in super fast? Or does it look like it might not be that deep? How long does one have to wait for the tide to go back out? So many questions.

Haha I think the fish and chip shop was closing soon! 😂 The tide does not come in super fast. Depending on how high the tide is on a particular day will determine how long you will have to wait. Maybe 1 - 2 hours (even longer if someone breaks down in the middle of it and turns the road into a single lane!) 🌊🚙
