They do that in Turkey 🇹🇷 to extend the cargo space in the back. There are lots of vans at the airport picking up passengers with luggages, that area in the back allowes the driver to put things on top of each other, not inside.

A very good video showing excellent craftsmanship and a very practical Design. It brought me back to 1977 when I started converting a brand new 77 GMC Vandura Short Box Van by cutting off the roof. I made my own raised Fibreglas Roof for it. It had a 2 Burner Stove, Sink, enclosed Toilet and Bunk Beds to sleep 4. When the family grew I removed the camping gear and eventually ended up with an 8-Seat Van by installing two Aircraft Bench Seats. We had it for over 22 Years.

That's amazing! Do you remember the price of the van when new? I loved those style vans back then. If I'm not mistaken, it was the same style as the Hardy Boys had in their series. 350ci motor?

Very rare correct placement of the burner on the door side of the kitchen counter. I have been watching hundreds of van builds (if not thousands) in the last few years and 99% builders are putting the sink there, mostly for the purpose of using the water from the sink outdoors, I guess, but, in exchange of putting the oily smelly smoky cooker burner next to the bed, your pillows and blankets, crazy. This location provides hundreds times more automatic ventilation it's like half outside already.... I was always going like "noo!! Whyyy?" But this was finally the wise choice, must be the Turkish wisdom :p

The interior is fantastic and beautiful, but unfortunately, it's too heavy. It would be better with lighter materials. For example, the sink alone is too heavy; using stainless steel would be lighter and more durable. Some parts of the interior don't necessarily require such heavy wooden panels; plastic or acrylic would be more appropriate. This weight makes fuel consumption too high, limiting the travel distance or reaching locations far from gas stations

My DIY CAMPERVAN was stolen from me on my street 13 years ago, and then ended up in the Hit Movie "Super Storm" and was blown to bits a half hour into the film, that film was made right here in British Columbia. They replaced the 77's steel grill with a more modern plastic grill, white bumpers, and elephant mirrors too. Also, someone removed the rear tire carrier that I put on the right rear door, but you can see the door is dented from me backing into a telephone pole. They gutted the interior, but you can see the yellow foam job that was done in Missauga. The stock 2' steering wheel was replaced with a smaller, uncertified black rubber foam one. There is a scene in the movie of a woman in the back of the van but that's just Hollywood trickery. The final scene of my van shows it pull a U-turn, a lightning bolt from Outerspace? hits the van the occupants escape somehow and it's blown to bits with dynamite so there's no way I can check the serial numbers at this time, 13 years later. But it was a nice van and, I took it all the way down South three times and over the Donner summit to Reno and through Los Vegas on the way back from Tijuana, Mexico. Also, I flew my hang-glider off a mountain in Santa Barbara that was on the roof of my van and passed my Hang IV test so I could fly Fort Funston in San Fran, and Torrey Pines just North of San Diego in La Jolla, which is the nicest place in Southern California.

It's nice. But the space is really filled up with stuff. What I like about tiny homes is that things are multi purpose. You live in that thing full time, your going to go crazy over the lack of space. I live in a semi truck full time with my husband, so I know what's it like to be confined. Those types of lifestyles are ment to live outside in, yes, but when your in there and aren't outside, your going to feel cramped.
