Top notch - amazing video and build. It's easy to watch van builds and be impressed but realise people spend £40-£60k on a brand new van - and kit it out with major sponsorship and already have an influencer lifestyle earning them £300k per annum. Nice to watch and inspiring but then for many, not realistic, especially for a first time build. This video is really nice and down to earth - realistic and get's the job done. I am a 49 yr old single divorced man who has lost businesses and homes etc and am sick of house prices and utility bills and you have really inspired me tonight watching your video. Well done, and thanks for inspiring me.

Sounds like you made a smart move. Another smart move is to buy a plot of marginal land ie boggy fields somewhere out of the way, as it can be turned into something similar to a very expensive property over time. Am looking at 12 year old Merc’s at the moment, these videos are very interesting although some of the builds are a bit over the top there’s plenty of useful construction ideas…a thriving area of endeavour due to organised crime wave in political system…

@@davidgriffiths7696 Can you point me in the direction of how to go about this either WITH correct planning permission to build an off grid cabin (I'm talking a big shed with insulation added initially, to be improved upon on an ongoing basis thereafter), OR stealth build on your land without getting some local Karen reporting you to the council and them forcing you to tear down anything you build on the plot?

I think you need to think again re the cold mixer tap set up. Just blocking the hot end may seem fine but what you have done is create a dead leg that will sit with stagnant water in that will not get changed and replenished. At the right or should I say wrong temperature (plus 20 degrees C) that could lead to legionella growth that could then infect your water supply. Throw the £8 tap away and buy a single tap mate. Better safe than sorry.
@gurglejug6279 ай бұрын
or just put a splitter on the feed and feed the cold water through both hot and cold inputs so you keep the same (lovely) tap. By the way, Legionaires' disease doesn't effect the hands or skin, it's only problematic if breathed in a vapour. I wouldn't worry, statistically, but yeah why not be safe?
@veseloiu7 ай бұрын
Or add a hot water branch to it later on which might be even better. The same could be said about the waste water routing from the sink, which will mean that there is n o syphon actually and the dirty water stagnages in the bottom of the sink waste as the outflow is happening higher up on the side and it will fester and stink, but these are minor issues in an otherwise very inspiring video

next time you need to do that you could either rent a angle grinder or look into offering someone at the local garage 30-50 quid to cut the hole for you if you play your cards right could take it in for a service and mot and ask if theyd be willing to just bung a hole in for a little side cash but its still great you gave a alternative option for those who dont have the access to a grinder also didnt spot it in the video but toss a couple combined smoke AND carbon monoxide detectors in 1 over by the diesel heater one just in the living space and maybe one by the lithium battery just to keep you safe from fires and especially carbon monoxide with being such a small confined space youll want to be warned as early as possible to any issues so you have time to escape other than that its a tidy little build and to have been under a grand thats really impressive

To the right of the sink you could extend your work surface by getting those folding/locking shelf brackets from BnQ and adding more worktop that hangs down when not in use :). Your fridge probably won't draw as much power as you think. It only draws power while it's running the compressor so it'll run more on a hot day than a cold day or if you restock it with warm items. greath video, i enjoyed that. One thing about the water pump. You could elevate the fresh water jug/canister. Than the pump would have to do less work and add to the water pressure. Maybe instead of puttting the two canisters next to each other, put the fresh water one on top of the grey water one.
@gurglejug6279 ай бұрын
Those self tapping 'pan head' screws are very good for screwing into thin plate - problem is they rust easily and look a mess and leave staining brown residue - so yeah you have to coat them with something. Nice video mate - I build Tiny Houses up in Scandinavia - all recycled material so can't use a lot of the time savers you use (cleverly) such as stick on tiles, but I enjoy playing with new materials as they become available. I would say I'd have put the Diesel tank outside so it doesn't smell, though I'd always use a woodburner when possible as they don't drain the battery and can never go wrong. And I'd put the grey water container under the van somewhere with an option/switch valve on the sink outlet to drop grey water straight on the ground - as one can in many places, safely, when it's uncontaminated - saves loads of carrying and hassle. When you say a lot of time is used adjusting already made fittings to your new plan then great mate - so many people plan a Tiny House then find the materials they wanted are not available or cost too much or the units are too hard to build - fully made plans NEVER work out in such a convoluted space - you'll find all that you need to change in your first year of van life, according to your own tastes. It usually just consists of special units/drawers/hooks for particular items. BTW I would have used some plastic conduit channel behind the small feature unit you made so that it's easy to retro-fit wiring - that will always be the hardest job of all. Most of the paint weight will evaporate off so don't worry about that.

You've got a clean van there, but.... 11:30 The bottom of those panels are known to rust on VW (and Sprinters) due to water coming through the white trim clips (top of the shot) then collecting at the base if the drain holes at the bottom are blocked. Probably a good idea to get some anti rust treatment into that base section (you can see the black line!) And maybe some sealant around the clips. The drain holes should be checked regularly.
