Hearing you explain how parts on the digging equipment broke and the parts had to be ordered reminded me of when I worked in construction and our head equipment repairman was so good that he often lathed out and welded all new parts out of steel at his shop rather than wait for an ordered part. He never made it past 5th grade but I would put him against any college grad when it came to engineering and repairing dump trucks, backhoes, how rams, transmissions, motors, engines, etc. He could usually just look at a piece and recreate the damned thing from memory.

My grandfather was like that . Started at 10 in a textile mill oiling the machinery, by the time the mill closed he had put in 35 yrs and was the head of machinery maintenance for the entie mill. This included a yearly tear down to all machinery during the first two weeks of July when the mill was closed and replacement & on site fabrication of whatever parts were needed. I was told he could do it all.

Thanks for your comment. Even using a laser level, I have a high spot at the shallow end, only about 2 inches. Goes to show you how being off just a tiny amount at the tripod can really grow over 35 feet. And I should have gotten a helper when installing the liner, but I was determined to do it myself. Anyway, I'm probably harder on myself than anyone.

Your experience often leads to resentment to the finished product! I've learned in life that the only person you can trust is yourself. Hiring, contracting etc, saves your sanity, not your wallet. You were dealt a bad hand while constructing this but dude, its a lovely finish. Take a deep breath, long exhale and dive in. Enjoy it! You deserve it. When you see the wife laying on her sun bed sipping her cocktail you'll remember why you first grabbed that shovel.

Wow. You need to add a final , completed view. Way to hang in there. I fired my builder after he set walls (for other issues). However, i didn't notice he didn't install the turnbuckles and the walls ( inside radius's) caved in after hard rains in fall, winter and spring. Took me 2 years from time i started digging those out. Would never do it again. Every rain set me back days/ weeks. When it was finished, I was proud of it, but life too short to have something like that consume your every waking minute. Your paying on a home improvement loan during those years you are still building it. Drove me nuts. One of the easier things i did was replace the liner after about 10 years of use. I was prepared for the worst, but all went smooth. And makes pool look like new again.
