You could see it broke Wenger & Arsenal hasn't recovered since. After a few seasons of being hopeful that maybe this will be our year & being let down I went from hopeful fan to a realist. IMO If we're going to actually compete with the top teams year in year out a big change is needed from top to bottom. Hopefully we can recover, but 19 years of pain tells me otherwise (wish it were different, but the head outweighs the heart on this issue).

There was no consistency in our style. The season wasn't so bad, but we might have been better. What killed us was the lack of experience and the fact that some players were always certain to play whatever their performance during the preceding game. An outstanding head coach has to instill discipline and responsibility in his squad. No player should think he's irreplaceable, whatever his mistakes. After the first goal scored by Southampton, a great head coach could have sent Ramsdale out. Partey- could have been benched also. No sanction was taken and they still were in the Starting Eleven tonight. There's no excuse stating that our players are teenagers. If they are either faulty or in poor condition, they ought to be benched. Being focused on the same players, without giving them rotating rest will not make us a great team. I'm resentful we could have done something great this season, but the head coach stubbornness to always line up his preferred players killed us. He absolutely prevented us from having two competitive teams.

They thought they had become super stars and began to play carelessly. Despite losing the first game versus Man C, a game lost because of their carelessness, they kept taking the same kind of risks. And since there was no sanction, their style of playing risks grew until we got three successive draws and the defeat against City, plumbing our chances of winning the League. They got comforted by Guardiola's statement that they couldn't be rejoined anymore. Then they went jubilating. The outcome is now before us.

Lee, This has been one of the worst and most painful losses I have seen from an Arteta team. Tierney, Trossard, and Emile Smith Rowe not playing is despicable. No subs. Arteta is a good coach. Arsenal is not a Premier-League winning manager. They should be ashamed of themselves. Absolutely.

Can Arsenal fans be honest that arteta got this horribly wrong. Should have played with 2 sitters because city always have an extra man in midfield. Needed to defend deeper because Holding isnt a top 4 defender. Keeping Holding as a back up is another poor choice of Arteta. Jorginho should have started in the midfield with partey. Should have played on the break with martinelli and saka. Odegard disappears again in a big game, not a captain. I think maddison is a better 10 than odegard, viera isnt competition for odegard. Bring in a proper 10 to compete, tie saliba down to a contract. bring in a better center back to compete with gabriel. Bring in a top class midfielder. Arsenal need to strengthen their spin of the team

I thought we were shocking. Rot set in at Anfield, put doubts in the players minds which made tonight's game pivotal but we should have had more points already. Nelson and Smith Rowe hardly used is a mistake.

I don;t think Saka has been good for awhile. Auba was our best player and got us the FA cup, Troussard is our best signing. We have seen why City let Jesus and Zinny go. They were enormous today.

Good point. It is not even a subtle acknowledgement that the vaunted 'process' is moving slower than it appears. On the other hand, with the squad being young and gelling better than before, there is a platform for (relative) success ahead, better than the mid-table positions of recent seasons at least.

The big thing is Arsenal have went out of all other competitions and if they do finish 2nd now who's to say they'll actually do well next season? They probably will but at the end of the day look at Leicester they won the title and next season under the same manager they were in 17th halfway through the season.
