They had streets around Maine Road named after a string of legends thereafter. Arsenal at the moment have 4 major trophies only more than Manchester City a club that holds the home crowd record in England.

Long before the likes of arsenal, lpool and particularly utd who were a non entity. While Manchester City were touring all over Europe utd were visiting far flung places such as Hartlepool and Grimsby. Manchester City were the first English club to have a Scandanavian supporters club, hell they even have one in lpool. You`d be hard pressed to find a utd supporters club in Manchester never mind a lpool one. Their legends were spread from the early 1890s to the early 1970s and a new chapter has been written in the last decade. Just because you are clueless doesn`t mean they didn`t exist.

@@brianshockledge3241 actually, it kinda does. the fact that the vast, vast majority of football fans cannot name an older Man City legend (and the ones that they can name tend to be nothing compared to Arsenal/United/Lpool legends) does mean a massive amount, because popularity does mean a lot in terms of club size etc. You knowing quite a bit more about City's history doesn't change that

Arsenal going bust and relegated with the worst support in the division would not be known today but it happened. They didn`t have any legends until a rich sugar daddy bought them some. Liverpool floundering around the 2nd div for almost a decade till they won the littlewoods pools bought promotion and their first legends in the 1960s. A state of affairs which saw them go from 6 trophies to a then unprecedented trophy buying spree which saw them come out of Everton`s shadow for the first time in their history in the 1970s. As for utd had no discernable history till the accident in Munich in 1958 and wouldn`t even exist today without Manchester City`s prolonged help. A club who went bust on more than one occasion and wrote the book on sugar daddies. They have 4 statues outside the swamp in nearby Salford two of which were City players Matt Busby and Denis Law. The only difference between all the clubs is City got their investment decades later than the others but it didn`t stop them having legends before any of those clubs. The red media like to talk about these "historical" giants in the English game yet as late as 1971 the most successful English team was Aston Villa.

Arsenal have been down bad for 15 plus years not winning any major trophies, getting embarassed in Champions League and stuff and still can sell out stadiums and are still top 10 in football jersey sales worldwide. Chelsea and City could never do that. It doesn't matter what era or what position Arsenal are in we are always relevant and there is always spotlight on us negative or positive. If Chelsea aren't good the media etc don't care about them. If Arsenal were as shit as Chelsea is now there'd be a whole bunch of negative press but Chelsea don't get that why? Cause they're not as big a club. Man City dominate for years and won the treble but yet Arsenal still gets all the headlines.. Why? Because they are not big enough an entity to get attention.

I'll be honest as much as I love this pod I think this is one of the weaker episode formats you man have done in a while for me, just because it means there's a lot less from Jad and Hussein and more from the guests, though the conversations were interesting I felt the vibes weren't as fun just because you guys are what make the pod and it felt like you took a backseat for the guests to have their debates (even though the guests were class). Love your stuff though
