Gentlemen of the high counsel I am sure I speak for many of you when I say that the men in this individual's life have failed this young man. Due to the outrageous, public nature of the display of this failure, I feel that I must point out that Article 21, Section 2, Paragraph 1 clearly states that failure to educate young boys in all features of a vehicle hereby known as a pickup truck requires the immediate surrender of the man card of all adult men involved in the boys' lives. Fellow members of the man counsel, there can be no higher disgrace for a man than the failure of properly educating the next generation.

I have met so many young men ( under 30 years old) that don’t know squat about vehicles. I needed a jump start and asked a 26 year old friend to put cables on his car and he didn’t know how or where to put the cables. Looking under the hood of his car he couldn’t identify the battery. 😢It was under the hood on driver side. Exposed. Not under a panel or anything. I think that basic vehicle maintenance should be included in drivers EDUCATION.

My esteemed colleague, As you'll also note in Book 3 Section 8.1 I quote "In the case of auto, motorcycle, marine or aircraft repair, it is not only recommended that one use a certified service manual but, it could result in a minor infraction. If said manual was present and not used and the job turned to shit. " Sub section 2a further states and I quote "A Certified Service Manual is required to be used for all manner or specific repairs including, when the need for correct torque specs, bolt tightening sequences, fluid levels, proper valve lash, firing order and many other instances is prudent." Nowhere in all of Book 3 or any other Book was I able to find any mention of the reading or referencing in any way shape or form a "Users Manual". In fact it clearly states in Book 3 Section 5.2 Sub-Section 1a. "All users manuals will be removed immediately after purchase of item and stored in the manual drawer until the man is dead and buried for a period of not more than 2 months. It is then to be removed from said drawer and discarded in the trash along with all other forgotten magazines, pamphlets, brochures, etc. By the closest male relative or best friend" So YES! I object! I must rebut because I do not believe that he's a seasoned member of the male community and this may very well be his first pickup truck. I do not believe that his blame rests solely on him but also his father and older brothers. I don't hold him blameless either but I propose instead of taking away his mancard that he receives probation and upon any further violations he then have it revoked. I also believe that his father should be fined one case of beer to be used as payment to another suitable male to teach his son the other ways of manhood so that the boy may learn our ways. Don't blame him but those who should have taught him. It's important to pass down what we learn and someone obviously failed him. But if he does any further violation then his mancard shall be revoked. We need to help our fellow man. We cannot be overly harsh on the young and inexperienced. If we are how shall they learn? As egregious as this matter is, there is a far greater dishonor to be discussed which is the role that an elder men in this young-man's life (older siblings, uncles, grandparents, neighbors, etc) played in this situation. The man-code clearly states that all male children by the age of 5 shall be properly versed in the most basic of pickup truck features. If this young man does not have an elder to show him as you pointed out, it then befalls to other men to teach him. It truly is a horror that this young man made it to this point in his life without anyone teaching him.

Yes, I and a coworker figured this out after we hit a significant enough bump and had to figure out how to put the work truck back together again. Mostly in how to get the tailgate back on correctly, so it would shut right. I defend, I have had no reason or want to remove any tailgate, and will be leaving mine in place, until a time I need to remove it... probably to grind off the rust and paint some lacquer over the exposed spots.

Vehicle knowledge is sadly missing from younger males. My dad made sure i knew the basics and my first car was a beater 1971 Mercury. I carry jumper cables (indeed, my dad bought me my first set, a very beefy set that was extra long) and various other items. My lovely lady has let her lady friends know that i am available to diagnose and hopefully solve their car issues. Esteemed Council. While I believe the punishment is just, I also believe it is being levied against the wrong individual. This young man discovered something, on his own, that should have been demonstrated much earlier in life. He is showing initiative and the desire to learn the old ways and should not be punished for his youthful exuberance. As is the norm for the younger generations, he presumed that he was the first to discover this "feature" and proceeded to share his newfound knowledge with others of his generation in a manner befitting their attention spans. Although I do not dispute that being so excited as to create and post this video to the interwebs was indeed a breach of etiquette it was done with the best of intentions and his punishment should be considered as time served due to the inevitable longevity it will know. The onus of this particular offense should fall squarely on the primary and or secondary male figure(s) in this young man's life. They are the ones that have failed him. Not only for not educating this young man as they are duty bound to do but also for allowing this video to be made and posted for their shame to never be forgotten. Gentlemen, Thank You for your time and consideration.
