Man Comes To Adopt Pit Bull At Shelter, But She Refused To Let Go Of Her Best Friend

One day a man walked into the Rocket Dog Rescue in San Francisco to look for a dog to adopt. He quickly fell in love with a three-year-old pit bull named Merrill. When it was time to pick her up, the shelter ran into a bit of a problem. Merrill wouldn't leave her best friend behind.
The volunteers at Rocket Dog Rescue dedicate their time to save unwanted and abused dogs from overcrowded shelters. Their mission is to stop dogs from getting euthanized. They regularly rescue dogs that don't have the best luck getting adopted. In 2014, the rescue took in a sick pit bull and an older Chihuahua. The two pups wouldn't leave each other's side.
Merrill and her eight-year-old Chihuahua friend Taco were brought to Rocket Dog Rescue together. The volunteers knew nothing about the dog's owner, but they did know that the two dogs were best friends. They were together all the time, and if they ever got separated, they would cry. Soon enough, the shelter truly understood how deep their bond went.

I just adopted a three year old female bully and she was pregnant when picked up or dropped off at the shelter. She was there for Several months, gave birth and was fixed so many stressful things in those three months. She doesn't want to be left alone and having trouble leaving her alone but it's 💯 worth it and getting better and better but been thinking about getting her a friend to help

I always adopt rescues and so do my girls. 7 years ago i got the two who were next up for execution and I adopted another one on her last day to live2 years ago. They know! They show more kindness and compassion than humans, because they don't have the cognitive fees will to choose to be anything other than what they're trained to be. An untrained wild dog will likely bite you if you try to stroke it, where as a trained one that's lived with a family will likely show you love. A human on the other hand, regardless of how their raised, can pick choose and choose wether to be kind or horrible at the flick of a switch. Because we have unlimited cognitive free will. It's nothing to do with dogs being kinder, it's simply they are limited to only express themselves based on their environment. In other words, you'll never find a dog that's been trained and surrounded by a loving family, act out viciously unprovoked. Where as a human can have the best upbringing and love around them, and still turn out to be a serial killer. It's called free will.

Vigdis Joline Sweden seems to always be ahead of the world when it comes to social problems. At least as an American that’s what I have been taught. I heard that Sweden is so ahead that they are changing it so that their homeless people (i’m surprised they even have homeless) are being fitted with Debit type cards to make donating to them easier in a world that’s changing to cashless. How cool is that? Not to mention Sweden leads the world in not making men and women fulfill old fashion gender roles. It’s normal for men to stay home with the kids too. I could go on. I beg to differ. There was a pitbull who lived with his family all of its life. They had a baby girl, the pit loved her very much. When the little girl was around 3 to 5 yrs old. She went to her neighbour's to play with another little girl. Now they also had a dog. Anyway when her grandma brought the little girl home. Her pitbull came running all excited to see his little girl. But then something happened. He smelled another dog on the little girls clothing, and literally mauld the child until he killed her. The grandmother could not get the pit off her granddaughter. You see pits are great at loving and protecting their children, but they are also very unpredictable. Some goes all their lives without harming kids. But they are also very protective unto death if necessary. This pit could not predict that this little girl was real and the smell was not. He only felt, " i must get this other dog out or kill it"". Not truly knowing it was the little girl. Because they go on smell and instinct. Most family dogs are also kind to other dogs. Not wanting to kill it, but to become friends. Therfore not all breeds are unpredictable as a pit are. Don't get me wrong, i like pits also. But i never had one around my children. It's just to dangerously unpredictable. People should never had made the pitbull breed. They were made to kill bores. Now Rottweilers i think it's the most dangerous dog ever made. I'd have a pit before a Rottweiler any day!! They are famous for killing kids.

I would’ve taken both in a heartbeat. I currently have a rescued senior pit & rescued senior chihuahua. Have been best of friends, totally inseparable for many years now. Wish more shelters would at least try adopting bonded pups out together, before immediately putting them up separately. What a lovely story. This happened to me, but with a blind cat I adopted from a shelter in Rome, Italy. The blind cat had, whilst we waited for the rabies quarantine period, become inseparable with a little kitten. The shelter emailed to say that they couldn't bear to separate them, but we agreed to adopt them both. They lived together happily for 7 years with us in the Isle of Man. Sadly, both have now passed on.

When I was born my dad raised Dobermans but we had a Beagle that was much older than our Male Doberman. They loved each other and it was hard to find a time they weren't together. The Beagle died from just being old and had a long life. The male Doberman looked constantly for his friend. He wouldn't eat or drink or sleep. Every noise in the house he would go look for his buddy. He died from a heart attack constantly upset and looking for his friend two weeks later. They are buried next to each other. I know in my heart they are playing in green pastures in Heaven waiting to be reunited with us. It just wouldn't be Heaven without our loyal companions with us. God made dogs the perfect companions for us and to love us no matter what humans do to us. We always have simething besides Jesus we know for sure loves us.

I hope Charlie our late golden retriever is up in heaven with my daddy. Dad loved his dog Charlie they were inseparable until my daddy passed. Charlie died one yr later of old age.

I had a pair of rottweilers dedicated to each other just like these 2. They did not grow up together and met as adults but became inseparable. When the older female had a stroke and had to be put down, the male cried all night and was inconsolable for a very long time. It's nice to see devotion in dogs because they are the one true faithful being on this earth. But when one of them has to leave, it's horrible. Maybe this video made some people uncomfortable, like it did me. But I up clicked it in honor of my sweet baby girl.

Such a beautiful story and wonderful family who decided to keep them together. I am a rescue person myself and I do my best to help these precious furbaby's find homes. I'm at capacity with several cat's, dog's and a hamster myself. So I donate as much as I can to our local no kill shelter and advocate for them and all these animals needing loving forever homes.

I volunteered at the local Humane Society about 12 years ago and soon came to realize that in many instances the dog picks the owner and NOT vice versa. How wonderful that the new owner(s) of this dog realized that it had a special bond and that adopting both dogs would bring a very special relationship with it.

I had a neighbor who had two pitbulls and a chihuahua named Gigi. He told us the pits had raised her from a pup. They got along wonderfully but Gigi was definitely more aggressive than the aggressive female pit. The male pit whose name was Tank was large but as mellow as the month of May. My neighbor passed away and his relatives took the dogs, I hope they are still together.
