My favorite character is Byron because he is the only one with a sane story, the guy is a nosy neighbor and probably dies out of curiosity while every other character has a story that just goes complex in a web as the story progresses and we don't get any satisfactory ending.

Actually in the book the planet has an entire city the ppl living there didn't have anyone from earth that would stay & teach the ways of earth so they ended up finding Byron living happily as an "Earth expert" who was married with a kid

Looking it up, the creator of the show mentions its very loosely based on sky watching experiences with their grandfather (minus the space travel, portals, etc), the book called Night Sky has nothing to do with the show, and the closest comparison anyone has given is to a book called "Ancient Shores" by Jack Mcdevitt. Even that book is very different to this show based on a brief synopses of it. Think Byrddii just made shit up, sorry to disappoint.

I loved this series! Sissy Spacek was phenomenal in this show and she had great chemistry with her husband on the show. I was so upset when they decided not to make season 2, and they ended season 1 on a cliffhanger!!!

The most unrealistic part of the plot is that someone would see his elderly neighbors go into a shed and end up making a big thing out of it and becoming obsessed with what it might be they are doing in there. Seriously, who would give a S? I have no idea and don't want to know what my neighbors do, elderly or not and I live in a dense town environment, not out somewhere where I would need to sneak through bushes to take a look at their shed. I hate when bad scriptwriters have to tie a story into a pretzel like that to even get it started. It would at least be a tad bit more realistic if it were the wife who snoops around the neighbors. That kind of stuff does happen in reality when stay at home wives are getting too bored, but of course in all forms of media nowadays it is always the husband who has to have all the negative character traits and the wife has to be the smart, calm, collected and sensible one who shakes her head while her dunce is off being a dunce again.
