He wrote “Baikal” in Russian for those of you who were wondering. Lake Baikal is located in Russia and is the deepest and oldest lake in the world. It holds 20% of all the worlds unfrozen fresh water and the lake is even home to its own unique species; the Baikal Seal - which is the worlds only true freshwater seal.

Should be mentioned that the ice quality is amazing in this video as its very clear and solid. They'd be very safe on ice half that thickness.. In MN we regularly ice fish on 3 inches of good clear ice. That's like what? About 7 cm? But being over a few thousand feet of water might make a person a bit more cautious. 😆

How is the ice so clear! Every time I walk on a frozen lake where I'm from, it's always white all over and you can't actually peer down through it and see the Rocky bottom!
@Hung895

Yes it is trully strange ,it seems that the water is incredibly pure and also that it is equaly frozen from the surface to the bottom...and also another kind of phenomena assured whn the crack occured and hot full of another flow of ice! it is very strange...I wonder what the people around think about it , if they find this is usual or no...

@@JohnSmith-we7tb Haha yea if it was frozen all the way down where would the fish go? and how would they all suddenly reappear. So yes it is not frozen all the way down. In the summer the lake thaws and it's 80/90 degrees in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Iowa, Michigan, etc. then all the fish are out of where they are, the seaweed, during the freezing over of the lake.

Thank you for video. Sometimes people don't have money to see things around the world. And your this video also useful to next generation because in future there will be no frozen lake due to global warming.

Bullshit. Siberia seems to have cold winters for another thousands of years, maybe getting just a bit milder (currently it can be -45 in the Baikal region and -60 and lower in the north). That's what continental climate is, and no natural obstacles for cold air from Arctic. And if you think that Arctic can become warm in the winter, then you are very wrong.
@spooperdoopaboop9818
@spooperdoopaboop9818 5 жыл бұрын
It's not actually global warming as much as climate change. It's getting colder in some parts of the world and warmer in others. For example Russia just had one of the coldest winter's in 2018.

@@kiparis777 Okay yeah you tried to prove em wrong but you literally described global warming. It's warming but it's taking a SERIOUS amount of time. Not even your children's children will have a huge effect by it. Ever heard of the ice Age?(not the movie) global warming and cooling has been happening for trillions of years. We just speed it up exponentially.

Water freezes only at the top, so the water below it is normal due to something we call convection. Same applies when cold water starts to boil, the upper part of the liquid is cold n heavy so the warm water below it being lighter it moves upwards as the cold water moves downwards so the water becomes hot. All is through conventional currents
