I'm an arm amputee, and I walk with a limp from a motorcycle accident. Him talking about people staring and point you out to their friends hits home for me. It's funny because I've become as used to it as one can get, but I can only imagine what it must be like when having facial deformities. I'm sure he'd think the same with my situation though lol. Hopefully the guy gets everything figured out and lives a happy life.
@chelcybryant2254 ай бұрын
I have a friend that was in a motorcycle accident and it cut his leg off. Being an amputee didn't stop him for a second from living. People look at him, but all I see is a survivor and a great guy. It's amazing the things you can endure in life with the right attitude. I hope you are keeping strong as well.
@gwenj1954 ай бұрын
I was at a hotel for a continuing education meeting when I held the door for a guy with quadruple amputations, and fancy prosthetics (springs for feet like the athletes use, and 2 different apparatuses for his arms). He actually appeared much more able than disabled. Imagine my surprise when I turned the corner and saw a convention center hallway full of quad amputees! They were having a convention of their own. I don’t think there were any single or doubles in the group, although I didn’t stop and stare. It was a marvelous and wonderful sight. I’m sure they were happy to have the support and be the norm instead of the exception. So know, as bad as it is to have amputations (I’m a physician and take care of many people with many issues causing amputations), quadruples are extremely uncommon, and never in my life have I seen a large, cheerful, well equipped, athletic appearing group. This was in a relatively small city (Oklahoma City).

Actual adults STARE and POINT?!?!? I do not want to believe that, but I'm sure it exists. It's just sad and pathetic for them! I can't imagine!
@GMPranav4 ай бұрын
I am sorry for your situation, but I am surprised people stare that much tbh. Arm amputation is relatively common especially since it's the only way to save you from an infection in the worst case. PS: Have you tried a prosthetic? The technology has really advanced enough that it's not just for looks at this point. It can give at least a fraction of the functionality back.

I've seen many people with disabilities and deformities. I, myself, is a very curious person. I really try so hard not to look at them. It's hard. And i teach my daughter to do the same. To look the other way around bec it's rude to stare and point. I told her if shehas questions, she can ask me when we're alone. I hope people with disabilities and deformities would get a quality life, that their hurdles wont limit them to be happy in life.
