Excellent. Many of us have this same calling. By having less impact on the land we have more impact on oursleves. Living in the round, gives one a sense of being centered. I thank you David for this share.

Love it. Great video, especially the attitude about leaving the smallest possible footprint. I am planning on doing this same thing on a wooded chunk of land in southern Missouri or northern Arkansas. Thanks for the inspiration.

This was a great video to come across in my yurt living research! I made the decision a couple of months ago to return to the land I grew up on, and live in a yurt - also with the notion of having the least amount of negative impact on the land that first held me when I came onto Earth. I'm tying up loose ends of my life here on the west coast in order to simplify the next chapter of my life, living in a more connected manner. Thanks so much for sharing your messages. They were beautiful to witness.

Going off Grid 2017 for me. I can't wait to be free from slavery. I will get exactly 350000 for my share when our house is sold, which is in the processes right now, and I stumble into your video. What a quinqindint.

Good on you man ! I've been homeless for years in Europe mainly Holland and France, now living in Thailand, getting away from the cold.... Really understand how great it is to be so close to nature, thin walls, hard work though.... In Holland had the chance to stay for a while within a community in a Yurt, Ger. The community suffocated me, but the Yurt was excellent... Not cold at all, they had as an insulation layer under the tarp, many old blankets...(wool), another idea is first off insulate the floor.... A lot of cold comes from the floor. Thumbs up ! I'm having problems now after sleeping outdoors so long before, that I can't stay indoors, nor sleep inside anymore that well. Also livin' in the box doesn't suit me anymore. Looking, Thinking and Saving to introduce a Yurt on a spot of terrain around here somewhere..... Thanks for the inspiration man ! greetz Rude Bakhuis (on fb)

Nice! Hey one question, how many batteries do you have installed in that system? What type of fridge and freezer? I mean your are only getting 750 watts. Shure would like to know how you are able to run both appliances on that. Thanks!

thumbs up, im considering doing the same thing. My friend in New Mexico has a large yurt he and his wife live in. Use to love waking up in a tent,can't imagine doing it everyday. You mentioned 35K, did you spend that much on the place?

Yurt is a Turkish word it translates to 3 things in English-1)home 2)dorm 3)dormitory. It means a circular domed dwelling that is portable and self-supporting; originally used by nomadic Mongol and Turkic people of central Asia but now used as inexpensive alternative or temporary housing. You can see how the tribes lived a nomadic life from Central Asia to Anatolia. Watching this series you will find the dramas that took place in these yurts other names for these structures that house families and tribes are oba, otagi, cadir in Turkish. Enjoy watching the series called Ertugrul here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5etiXSKpa6ci7M

Thanks for sharing David. Do you own the land your yurt sits on ? Are you going to work every day ? How long it takes to build yurt like this one ? I mean to put it together and if one person alone can do it . I like the way you look at live and your place in it. You are fanfastic person. You could be my son in law. Are U married ?
@lunaadventures77939 жыл бұрын
+Joanna Bushman Yes I do. My work is here as I've turned the property into a education centre. But, when the snow melts I still head north to paddle as my profession is as a wilderness guide. This yurt took me about a week, but I've built others much quicker. Thanks for all of your kind words.

35000 dollar for a tent ? and another 5000 for a energy system ? you are ripped off is my opinion , have fun anyway
@Reinpret10 жыл бұрын
it doesn't cost 35,000 for the Yurt, he's talking about the deck and the solar setup, and he also said he was still living off that. If you look at Pacific Yurts, the most expensive one is like 7-8k dollars. Not a waste, I'd say buying a big old house for 350,000 dollars is a waste.
@asiangoddess460610 жыл бұрын
If your handy, you can make it for about 2500. Just the yurt with complete insulation that's for a 16 to 20 diameter. The walls would be about 7ft tall. best to live on an elevated ground and put in ground heating tube channel using ROCKET STOVE system. I'm looking to make mine this summer. I have year round cottage home just north of toronto. His downfall right now is building on a deck instead of on ground and he is using fireplace instead of rocket stove to heat & cook. Rocket stove uses twigs instead of big logs. Gives radiant heat and holds and release slowly. Perfect setup but minor glitches. Good luck

I used to call this place a tent...now I call it a home. Sorry to hear you feel I was ripped off, but 11 years ago I had no clue about alternative living. This has been a journey and if I had to do it all over again...I may do it differently, however I would never want to give up this beautiful tent I now call home. Check out my FB page to see how it's improved over the years facebook.com/LUNAProject?ref=hl

You can never be ripped off when you are going off the grid. $6,000 i can build the yurt tent myself. then $3500 for solar or flag gene system is I'm going with instead of solar. batteries included. yurt, tiny homes on wheels - you're not ripped off and you will no longer be a slave to property taxes on large homes, no mortgage no utility & gas companies. GOING OFF THE GRID - IS NO LONGER SLAVING. I have my mountain in the philippines I'm going back this APRIL 2016 - going to farm & open my "Families in need Foundation" and its all off the grid. my passion my life my world. STOP BEING A SLAVE
