So the bird flock falling from the sky is thought to be from a predatory bird swooping down onto the flock, like a falcon or a hawk. A chain reaction as the birds on top forced the ones on the bottom down, they just happened to be close enough to the ground where this happened.

I’ve heard it could have been an electrical shock from the cloud of birds bridging the gap between two high voltage lines, meaning basically the whole flock got electrocuted at once. Not sure if this is true but it would explain what looks like smoke, and how many were injured after the fact.

We've advanced this far so fast because of education imo. The more widespread knowledge there is and the smarter people become the more advancements can be made. And when humanity bands together to do this we can achieve things very quickly.
@Skateandcreate9 Жыл бұрын
So we are simultaneously becoming smarter and dumber as a collective, interesting…
@mlokgerm Жыл бұрын
This is actually kinda true. If I remember correctly, one of the reasons we barely advanced during the Middle Ages is because the Catholic Church suppressed any education of the common folk and just science in general. Once we sort of got away from that and the church had less power and control over everything we began to advance in science pretty quickly. This is probably a gross oversimplification but yeah.
@blehh_mae Жыл бұрын
also its not like advancement is linear, we didnt just go from horses to carriages to cars to planes, we had horses then we decided to use wood to make carriages, then we discovered we can mine metals and we can use a bunch of random things to make an engine and other stuff to make cars, then we eventually upscaled that and thought about what makes stuff fly, and that all took a long time because how do you discover something that doesnt exist yet easily, and because for a while we were only caring about religion and royalty instead of science
@-desertpackrat8 ай бұрын
Yes, partly, it's also because we no longer allow a single religious organization to conquer and erase entire civilizations, and we don't limit education based on gender, race, etc. 200 years ago women couldn't go to school, partly because religion told us women have to stay subservient to men, not possible if they're equally educated. Britain and other white and Christian groups were constantly destroying cultures and then beating people into forgetting their language and old ways, if someone was about to invent airplanes in the year 1600, they were about to get invaded by Europe and whatever plans and ideas they had, became a life of imprisonment and slavery. If some soldier found the schematics for a plane someone in Africa was inventing, they'd burn it and call it a book of dark magic or something because they hated anything they didn't understand or recognize. Just as an example. No one could invent or learn or explore anything until we stopped the constant religious invasions and suppression of scientific topics. It's tragic, we could be so far ahead if we'd stopped all of it way sooner and allowed everyone to learn and figure out our world without fear of being tortured or destroyed.
@onyourleft41947 ай бұрын
and it's also because science/advancements tend to be a snowball effect kind of thing. once you make a major breakthrough - such as electricity - then further major breakthroughs tend to come quicker - like advanced electronics (if that makes sense)

The tops of the spheres are dark because they were exposed to the surface air. You can see how the sphere doesn't fit completely inside the hole that was dug, just that small portion sticks out and allows algae and other microorganisms to live on it and stain it.

As impressive as that AI movie trailer looks, it doesn't feel like a movie trailer - it feels like an advert for a perfume, random technology, cars. You know, those kind of adverts that don't have a coherent story, just random catchy images. And I think that's what's ultimately preventing AI from creating certain human art forms such as writing or film, to the standard that we expect from fellow humans: AI may know the definition of the parameters we give them, but it will never be able to completely understand those parameters.

My favorite Strange World thing (well what I would classify under a we live in a strange world) is basalt columns. Take a look at them it’s pretty crazy, Devils post pile and devils tower are some lovely examples of natural formations of Basalt that are pretty crazy. Also also the VfX artist thing, please don’t harp on them it’s the studios fault, demanding so much so little time. VFX is still not a huge huge industry, and just like other animators they get Sucky pay and have to work under severe crunch and overtime witch even goes un paid in numerous cases. (Let alone if we look at VFX artists getting any form of residuals witch is rarely ever done) Their is plenty wrong with AI currently and it only will make big companies worse creatively and ethically. (not to say AI is entirely bad their is potential just a ton of issues)

12:30 I always wonder what it's like for very tiny things, do they know we exist? Because if we're tiny to something else, we sure can't see them. When the scale of something is so enormous to you it's almost like another dimension. For example in the Ant Man movies when they use the Quantum Realm, they basically go into another realm, they really only shrunk down, they're technically still in the same "world", but they've entered a new olane of dimension, being so tiny that the world above no longer touches or affects them. Also it must be so wild to be a bug that isn't too small to see us, anything we can see with our naked eye, usually they can also detect us. I saw a pseudoscorpion the size of a pin head once while hiking and when I bent down to look closer, the little guy raised his little fake claws at me, as if he would fight me or something. To imagine something so tiny seeing me as so big and still putting up his fists ready to throw hands, incredible. If I looked up and saw a face leaning down out of the sky to look at me, I would likely pee my pants, not take a fighting stance and challenge it to an honorable battle. How can something so tiny be so brave? Humans freak out just imagining the possibility that we're tiny and something big is up there so big we can't even see it from this distance, we couldn't handle such a life.

What makes the cuts on the giant blocks so impressive is the fact its basalt and you need a diamond tipped saw to cut stone like this today and most megalithic stone structures like this from around the world are made from very hard stone that can only be cut with diamonds.

The point of the asteroid one is that we call "rare earth metals" "rare" because they are rare in the crust. Earth, in fact, has an abundance of rare earth metals in the mantle and core because they are the heavy elements, so they sank to the center. Aliens looking for resources would have a very easy time finding them literally everywhere except on planets.

The ancient cities were used multiple times throughout history, either to protect themselves from natural disasters or hiding from enemies( that's the safest way I can say it). As of the elements, I assume they're mostly referring to one specific heavy metal. Strontium, lanthanum, cerium, gold(which I assume is what they're referring to) etc. , can be formed by a collision of two neutron stars.
