my thoughts on police conduct. 1: Police should be licensed nationally whether they are employed locally, sheriff or state. the license criteria must include basic rights and conduct knowledge. 2: Police should be REQUIRED to carry $3,000,000 conduct insurance with a minimum deductible of $3000. if any award is higher than the $3,000,000 then the city/county or state is liable for the balance 3: When police go above a threshold of abuse or conduct 3 times or their conduct results in arrest of the officer 1 time or the conduct insurance is exhausted the federal license should be revoked permanently. 4: All police conduct complaints should be investigated and reviewed externally by an independent organization. 5: All officers should be required to carry body cams that record and broadcast to a secure place without an on/off switch which can simply be done by the camera automatically turn on when removed from a charger. The recordings further should only be able to be seen and not erased unless done by an independent organization outside the jurisdiction and only after a completed court trial AND only after all appeals are completed or appeal times have passed. The officer should be fined if the lens is covered or the audio muffled by covering the microphone.

They can screw up worse than anyone ever has and not only are they afforded completely FREE legal representation (if required), they get added PAID time off even when they do something wrong, and when they hurt or KILL someone, not only can you NOT sue them personally, they can't be held financially accountable for ANYTHING they do wrong. In fact, the police agencies aren't even the ones who have to pay for all the settlements they fork over to citizens. They simply pass it on to TAXPAYERS and the police department stills gets their full annual budget regardless of how much was paid out because of their wrongdoing. Police agencies are NEVER punished for their poor behavior or when they outright break the law. Police have somehow managed to completely insulate themselves all the way down to a personal level from having any direct action taken against them. Police in this country are a complete sham and they're the worst kind of law enforcement officers The People could ever have working on our behalf :>\

The reason these kinds of things keep happening is that police departments almost NEVER fire cops for being mean and abusive. *We the citizens need to rise up and demand that our local governments rein in police abuse by firing bad cops.* For starters, any investigation of police abuse should be done by an independent outside agency, NOT by the police themselves. Easy fix for all this. The police officers get their own insurance policy's. The borough covers the initial cost of the policy and if there is any claims it goes to that policy holder not the tax payers. When the price of the policy goes up after claims the officer has to cover that. Once it gets cost prohibitive as it will if he or she has claims against it they will not be able to afford the insurance and hence that will weed out all the bad cops. Very easy

@@UrbanSipfly literally nobody is forcing cops to be cops lol. Every other professional I can think of is required to, or would be stupid to not have insurance. Had a guy come and do yard work today, and even he has insurance.

If cops were financially responsible for their mistakes, all this BS would be greatly minimized

My father once got tackled by store security in NYC. He was wearing headphones, and didn't hear the door's merchandise alarm go off. My father hadn't stolen anything. The guard broke my father's finger, but the store covered the whole thing up. They never paid for medical expenses.

I love that they make it clear that it is indeed your tax dollars in effect.

why do people keep saying "these lawsuits cost tax payers money" i would much rather have my taxes go to a victim of police abuse instead of "no where".. because 90 % of taxes are misused any way

SO MANY BAD AND DIRTY COPS IN AUSTIN, TX. THE POLICE NEED TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES AND NOT THE TAXPAYERS!

What I would love to see happen is that whoever said he didn’t get on the ground fast enough would have somebody at random at a random time tell get on the ground and if they don’t do it in that split second gets tackled to the ground and tell them they didn’t get on the ground fast enough They would say you gotta give me some time to register what’s going on Well you didn’t give that Man anytime so why should we give you time

Yes, common sense would have been wonderful. Even more so, would be getting rid of qualified immunity so police are held accountable and not the taxpayers
