I am a man of constant sorrow I've seen trouble all my day I bid farewell to old Kentucky The place where I was born and raised For six long years I've been in trouble No pleasures here on earth I found For in this world I'm bound to ramble I have no friends to help me now You can bury me in some deep valley For many years where I may lay Then you may learn to love another While I am sleeping in my grave Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger My face, you'll never see no more But there is one promise that is given I'll meet you on God's golden shore

Sawyer nails it, totally. Sawyer has updated the groove with his young guy playing with the feel of an old guy, having the drive of the young. He brings the power of his inner natural self into a vibe, missing in today's music. He nails it. Unique, honest powerful. The guitar player was, stylistically off and distracting from Sawye's 'relentless' drive. Listen carefully, to his lead approach. His dynamic points were not the '4 on the Drive Sawyer has. He basically played country licks, really well. But they are more suited to country music than hard-driving Delta-style grooves. 'Man of Constant Sorrow' may be a country-oriented song, so are much the Delta Blues, which Sawyer uses well. The guitar player is ripping it up but misses the accents Sawyer sets up. He needed to punch with Sawyer, not run circles with country technique.

I’ve never seen ‘The Voice ‘ and now I’m really, REALLY glad that I haven’t....it would have tainted this amazing talent for me. I would have thought him ‘commercial’ and just stumbling across him a few weeks back, I didn’t have to have some celebrity critique of Sawyer’s abilities ringing in my ear, swaying the pure joy I get when I hear him do his thing! ☮️♥️🕉🎶
@notahotshot
@notahotshot 5 жыл бұрын
"some celebrity critique ringing in my ear" Being a celebrity, or not, changes nothing in reference to an individuals ability or right to have, and express, valid opinions. In other words, your opinion is no more, or less, valid than that of a celebrity. If prior knowledge of him having won The Voice would have caused you to be dismissive of his talent, I would say your opinion is not worth much. Of course, that's just my opinion.

He's clearly got the "gravel voice" down pat. He's gonna need some help with actual "songs" (as in lyrics) that will appeal to the popular listener. Also, he should use the gravel voice effect judiciously so as not to become a "one voice pony" type of entertainer. This young man is developing, evolving, and (I hope) one day he'll produce originals that stand the test of time. Unique voice. Needs unique material. Finally, I hope he still enjoys time on the farm with the family. Really... you can't replace that no matter how much money and fame you got. :)
