A Weber County man who police say traveled to Sandy where he thought he was going to pay a teenage girl for sex was arrested after he was confronted by about 20 other teenagers after he arrived.

I wouldn’t say that exactly. More often so than not, police refuse to work with pred catchers because they don’t want to enable vigilantism. There’s a documentary on Vice featuring Dad’s Against Preds, & they cover that to a T (also recommend their documentary on Canadian pred catcher Justin Payne). A lot of times these preds walk, but there have been convictions in some cases..

A perfect example of doing the wrong thing for all the right reasons. These kids probably watched a couple of the predator catcher channels on KZbin and thought they could do the same thing. What they don't understand is you have to be very careful and you have to do things "by the book" - otherwise none of the so-called evidence is even permissible in court. You can easily end up in a situation that can be viewed as entrapment and there goes everything you work so hard to do . Not to mention the fact that a lot of bad guys carry things that go bang and aren't afraid to use them if they think they're going to end up in prison with an "S.O." title over their heads. Good job guys, I totally respect the effort but please don't do this again, at least not without involving some adults that know the rules and that can be there to protect you if need be.
