@@shaunstegallify Who do you have as the best? I have Pacino a close second and then a bunch bunched together. Very good but not upper echelon. I don't rate DiCaprio. nothing against him. He just doesn't have a strong screen presence. Denzel commands the screen IMO. Training Day was spectacular IMO and a well deserved academy. And he’s deserved several more. Pacino in Carlitos was way deserving of an academy but I forget who he was up against. Anyway. I will watch any Denzel or Pacino movie because of them. Brilliant actors.

Denzels breathing heavy between saying "you move, you make one sound, and I'll snatch the life right out of you" really shows the emotions he's going thru. The anger surging thru his body, ready to rip Sams spinal cord clean from his body. Awesome acting.

Another line similar people hear a lot, "the truth hurts". Creasey didn't even need a bullet to threaten with. The bullet was icing on the cake and the interrogation set up had already killed Samuel by admitting his guilt. The camera shoots occasionally, showing Samuel, during the questioning really foreshadowed his death coming up. You could really sense the guilt from Samuel's eyes at that point. As a viewer, that was a great scene too dissect. Samuel saw the painting at the wall, and Creasey played a haunch but he practically knew too. Again, the truth hurts. Awesome scene and chilling like you mentioned.

The look of betrayal on her eyes as she learned the truth... Even Washington's character, in the entire movie he can maintain his cool when bullets are flying at him, but for this scene he was breathing heavily and was losing his cool while confronting them. Wonderful acting, Denzel knew that even this character would be more affected to be in the presence of who he thinks was behind what happened than he would be from actual threats to his life. If there is one critique it is that he plays people that are all on the edge of crazy or downright crazy. That said I don't see Hanks on that same level. Hanks best performance was Road to Perdition. He also had zany films if you recall Bachelor Party, which was great, but nobody remembers that stuff because he moved on to more serious roles. This by far is my favorite scene, Creasy is torn between justice and mercy. He wants to let Samuel live, but he can't because of his promise. He doesn't want to destroy the family that gave him salvation, but he knows he is damned to the deed and decides to leave it to chance, the bullet that lied. The line I'll pray for you is heartbreaking because it can be interpreted so many different ways. Is he praying Samuel lives? Praying for his salvation? The way i see it Creasy left it in God's hands being unable to pass judgement secretly hoping he would live and the family heal, but not surprised to hear the truth.

Man on Fire was such a great title for this movie. It symbolizes two things aabout Denzels character "Creasy" Like a fire, he burned with rage, chaos and destruction. But also, just as every fire dies out after unleashing its wrath, well....you know.
@thesoultwins72
@thesoultwins72 3 жыл бұрын
xSteel FeveRx.......'Man on Fire' [Denzil Washington] is a re-make of the 1987 Italian/French co-produced film of the same title, starring Scott Glenn as 'Creasy'. The storyline in Tony Scott's 2004 remake is virtually identical - and Scott's portrayal of 'Creasy' acts as a very accurate template for Washington. As an interesting footnote - Tony Scott [who directed the 2004 remake] was actually selected to direct the original 1987 version of the film. However, the studio thought he was too inexperienced and instead appointed French director Élie Chouraqui. Finally, 'Man on Fire' is based on the 1980 novel of the same name written by AJ Quinnell.

Denzel gets so much recognition for this role (as he should) and mad props to Radha Mitchell (also very well deserved) but I think Marc Anthony deserved more recognition for his role, especially in this scene. The whole movie he's a fairly composed, confident man and loving father and husband, but here as he starts confessing it all falls away and the desperation becomes apparent. And I love that as he's telling her, you can almost pinpoint the moment he lost his wife's love when he says "I did it for us". In that moment the realization that he can't undo what's been done, no matter how badly he wants to. Just an incredible movie all around.
