Man on the Moon changed my mind about Andy Kaufman. I was a little kid living in Memphis when he was doing his Jerry Lawler stuff. I didn't care about wrestling but he was big news there. I remember watching the news with my grandparents and he was going on and on calling everyone in Memphis stupid, it really affects you in your formative years, so I hated him for a long time. I didn't even watch this movie until probably 7 or 8 years after it came out. A friend really liked it and I had nothing else to do and I warmed up to him and finally got it. Good review.

I seem to recall seeing John Cleese, or maybe one of the other Pythons, saying that they wanted to do a thing on Flying Circus but the BBC wouldn't let them. They would lower the volume very slowly over the course of the show, and then suddenly-after everyone in Britain had turned up their sets-blast something at full volume. That always seemed to me to be the same kind of bit as the V-hold thing.

When it comes to Jerry and Andy I think very few people knew about their friendship and how their whole fued was a work and good story telling. The Andy that Jim was channeling was just the image everyone one seen on TV and from friends and family. I might have given it a chance if he didn't talk to Andy's daughter pretending to be her father. Fyi I really like Andy and I only like Carrey when he is playing a serious role.

35:27 "Maybe Jerry Lawler was in on it..." very interesting theory. Definitely check out Lawler's podcast "Dinner With The King", as well as his guest appearance on Stone Cold Steve Austin's podcast. He rips right into Carrey for basically being a constant jerk to everyone on set just for shits and giggles, versus how Andy did his antics without being mean spirited onto those close by. Seems they made peace after all was said and done, as close to Jim And Andy being released, Carrey sent Lawler a lovely letter of appreciation, along with a stack of vinyl records full of wrestling themed music (though whether that was a troll move can be up for debate).

This is a great episode. I love how into Andy and Jim, Kearon is. I really hope Jim sees this video because I think he would be touched by how heartfelt and emotional Kearon is defending him.

That movie is okay, but it used a biased book for reference. I think actors Herbert Lom and Burt Kwouk commented that said book was largely rubbish (although both men did admit that Sellers did some dickish things).

I remember my dad pointing this out in blockbuster when I was a kid, he said it was Jim's Careys best performance in his opinion. I never got round to renting it but got a copy of it when I was In Baghdad on operations in 2006. I loved it to bits and though he was amazing. I hadn't heard of Andy Kauffman before and managed to find taxi the TV series out there to watch between patrols and escorts. I didn't realise how spot on his acting actually was until I started watching taxi. Has been one of my favourite movies since.
