@amanofnoreputation21644 жыл бұрын
There's a double take in that line. Truman says it as a act of defiance, but in reality, *all* of the cameras where inside his head because his head is the center of his subjective experience. As much as Truman is inside the show, the show is inside Truman. looked at this way, the film could be a story about enlightenment. The show is an analogy for samsara, duality, illusion, the ego, etc. It's familiar and habitual and even a little comforting to an extent, but it doesn't contain any real fulfillment. Whereas the world outside the show is nirvana or awakening. The final obstacle to awakening is not so much that samsara is tempting or corrupting or that , but it means that you're well and truly your own boss. You've seen through anything that could have placed a limitation on you. Even the gods. 限界突破 If some boffin with a PHD comes along and says the world is such and such a way, you can tell him to piss off. You don't need anyone to think for you. (We'll leave out the complications of you also being the PHD, you wanting to be fooled, and the fact that you were really you're own boss even while you were completely deluded.) That's naturally very frighting because it means you're not really a person or identity at all. You're it. You could be stuck dead at any moment and it wouldn't matter because the real you is what there is. The thing that sucks about being "me" is you don't get to be it. The thing that sucks about being it is you don't get to be a me. So after Samsara and nirvana, the Truman show and the world outside, comes the middle way where you become a person who unites both worlds and is whole.

1. Like you said: it's February, 2. You're clearly 25 or under if you think that's one of his good movies.

I got really excited to see them discuss one of my favorite movies of all time, and was a bit disappointed to see them get off-topic all the time. Still, it was great to hear them talk about it like it was a Twilight Zone episode, which also happens to be one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

This movie was so damn awesome when I saw it, I need to watch it again sometime. I am also glad to see the set they are on and how it is set up, very cool.

Hilarious ad for the Legacy of the Beast, just enough sarcasm and silliness. Great review of The Truman Show.
