I can do it to a much less extent with some wild birds around my house. Took months. Usually I can now extend my arm and open my hand and 2 or 3 might land (and leave if there is no food ).

I raised finches once, they breed like there is no tomorrow, I loved to see the babies being born. i never hand fed them or parented them. have known people that have and their birds act like these in the video. I bred love birds for a while, but it broke my heart to give them away and know they wouldn't last long in their new homes because when you get down to it, pet birds don't last long unless someone cares more than the average ass hole out there and most people are too lazy to learn how to care for birds. i have love birds i raised and they are over 20 years old. I like the small birds, cause you can have more of them around. you have three full sized parrots it is too much.

nonmuslim888 Saying some random "arabic" words don't really make you an expert on Islam wiseguy! Attacking a stranger just cause you see his name in a different language, and then attacking a religion in such a cheap manner only proves how utterly illiterate and small brained you are as a person!

They don’t fall asleep when on their backs. It’s such an unnatural position that their brains actually aren’t built to handle. They basically just pass out. Crocodiles have a similar reaction. The rest of the time the birds are just staying with the “ parent” they imprinted on as fledglings. They were never taught to “ leave the nest” like they would have been in the wild , so they just flock to him for security.

I don’t think it is too harmful if you right them within a few minutes but I can’t imagine it being good for them if you were to keep them on their backs for an hour our two. I’ve heard that crocs can die if they can’t get turned back around. But I’m not an expert.

Pet birds love their cages, they protect them from predators, and there is ample food there. I hate it when people think it is cruel to keep birds in cages. birds in the wild spend so much time looking for food . I let my birds out of their cages all the time and when they are tired of playing they always go home to the cage.

Just about any bird will bond to you if they trust you. and it doesn't take that much time or effort. I have love birds that i have carried to work in my pocket, because they were too young to feed themselves, and i would feed them at break and lunch, i worked in a machine shop and loved that they would sit in their little cage and watch me all day. I rescued a pigeon out of a river where some ass hole seagulls were trying to drown and we would play in the street with me throwing her as high as i could and she would fly back and land on my sholder. have had rescued parrots that loved me so much they would attack and harrass any one that got close to me. I wish folks would study how to treat birds and then experience love of a bird. i stopped breeding lovebirds after a short while cause it was too painful to give them away to ignorant folk. I am quite sure most pet birds do not last long and it is sad.
