I saw one bite itself in the front body so it was an open wound. The parrot was rescued but it will occasionally do it again and again because the behaviour doesn't change. Poor bird.

There were red flags in regards to animal behavior from this video. When a rival male parrot steals your mate away from you, you will get angry and when you get angry, you take it out on mostly everything. That's why it's important to think about getting another male or female before you buy one. The numbers in male and female parrots in your home must be balanced. Otherwise, fights will recur as parrots like any other animal will choose their mate. An imbalanced number of males and females causes parrots to get aggressive and they will fight for their mates. The cycle of violence can only be stopped if the numbers are re-balanced. And no, it's not aggressive due to stress. It's angry because her mate is stolen by another female. Remember to get enough bird houses for all birds in your home because they are territorial.

I know diddlysquat about parrots, but it was an angry female, not an angry male. and the single , green, male, was too young to breed. Peace was restored when they brought in male nr 2, that was older, and old enough to breed. Yes, I am sure you are correct about numbers, just saying it was not a jealous male, but a female lacking a mature partner.

Man they should make more videos like this, keeping parrot is extremely difficult and tiring work and you often get bitten. What people don’t understand is unlike dogs who were bred to be domesticated, parrots are wild animals and require significantly more training and care.

Now knowing the signs ....seeing her with the dog I think she was trying to initiate courtship...the way she was nibbling at the mouth, she did this with the older parrot that was temporarily brought in..but unlike dog, he reciprocated 💞 and now she also has a nice new nest bed....hopefully they'll see thier happy lovable parrot back....well done on them for being proactive about it and making an effort not just to find out what the issues were but for acting on the answer to those issues 👏🏼👏🏼

they actaully go the opposite when they have chicks.... the bird is in "I found a nest and am protecting it from intruders, and my boy freind the dog doesn't want to mate with me.". If she lays it would be worse becasue then she is in protect the eggs from intruders/predators. If they were to hatch (obviously has to mate with the male eclectus if they have one) hormones kick in and the birds are much sweeter as long as they were bonded to you.

The vet was smart, yes, but keeping it cooped up in an apartment, and with wings clipped so that it cannot fly (as it looks in the video), is not the way to raise a mentally healthy parrot.

The red parrot is actually a female Eclectus (the green one seen earlier is a male Eclectus). Female Eclectus have a reputation for being hormonal. Looks like that to me.
