thats the first time i ve ever heard a boxer gets his brain checked regulary. Thats great and very smart by AJ. The only way to make sure you wont suffer from CTE later in life. Great to hear. Every fighter should be forced to do that. That would limit braindamage in boxers massively.

You get it through boxing, but the symptoms will show up later in life, in your 40s and 50s it will start. Your brain will shrink, you will get slurred speech, and your cognitiv ability will decrease. @@sambphillips959

How would it limit brain damage? Doesn’t make any sense to me because the scan is a reactive check to blunt force trauma. It only makes sense if he got the scan before his first match ever for a baseline reading then all scans thereafter could measure any degradation in brain function from repeated shots to the head. And who’s to say he would even stop boxing if he was told that there were early signs of CTE in his scans? Are the scans mandated by the boxing federation for every fighter before a match or is AJ doing this on his own accord?

AJ has brought me to watch and start taking an interest in boxing. Mike Tyson was the last I heard of heavyweights. Thereafter, it was Mayweather Jr and Pacquiao in the lower weight divisions. I heard of Fury and Klitschko on a one off and followed Fury for a week or two. Then boxing died in me, apart from the occasional Pacquiao fights. Then came AJ. Now I am glued to any channel and news about AJ. I think his humbleness and genuineness and respect has translated into something much more. I am from the South Pacific and I know about still waters that run deep, and the calm before the storm. Regardless of what man may say, AJ, stay humble.
