A man who came down from Maine to attack three NYPD officers with a machete in a Times Square attack on New Year's Eve 2022 was sentenced to 27 years in prison after pleading guilty. NBC New York's Chris Jose reports.

These knives are getting out of hand. Criminals will always find ways to hurt people. Can we have knife control laws. I don’t feel comfortable letting go of my gun when people can carry knives and randomly attack. There is no defense against knives except a gun.

It happened quite bit in the US when they started their War on Terrorism Campaign. I believe they said this guy was self-radicalized but I recall after 9/11, ISIS was actively recruiting US Citizen's to join through online message boards. Same happened in London during the same period.
