We can learn something from the Japanese their Death sentence is psychological, you can go from court straight to the death chamber no date is ever given , sometimes they will take you from your cell strap you in and take you back out to your cell.

It's not right that the killers get to sit on death row for 20yrs, using the system to launch their legal appeals. The victims didn't have that privilege. This situation is not only an oxymoron, but it should be used as an example to get the law changed. I suggest getting it changed to a points based system. Once the death penalty is sentenced, then a checklist made up to award points for expedition. Along with that, an improvement in evidence collection, dna, recording devices, we now get more accuracy with the investigation and legal system, there should be less needs for appeals.

I know most of us growing up in a poor family but we all working hard every day just to have a life not robbing and killing anybody to get what we want. A Murderer will always be a murderer it has nothing to do with a family’s situations. If you only think about killing and robbing others to get what you want instead of working hard like everybody else then in my book you don’t deserve to live anyway.

How does that amaze you? If everything they said he endured coming up is true, he is damaged and probably angered beyond our comprehension. He's also probably stuck in that little boy mindset even being adult in age. That anger can become very dark, like the prosecutor mentioned. I'm not saying he should be free, but to be in amazement by this is crazy... this is sad and unfortunate. Like the prosecutor said, there's a price to pay, but who pays for him being rated as a child or his mom being a junkie and him witnessing her on, smh. This is tragic and unfortunate on both ends. Nothing about this was fair to ANYBODY, but even the boy being raped that turned into a monster.

Timothy Loehmann does not repent at all. He keeps trying to go back to the police for having possibility to kill more people without punishment using qualified immunity. That's why he deserves the death penalty much more than Joseph McAlpin. Or at least, the life imprisonment. Joseph McAlpin does not try to work at police and does not try to continue murdering. Most likely, he can repent. He admits he was wrong. Timothy Loehmann does not admit he was wrong. He showed no sign of remorse for his actions, and he is completely indifferent to Tamir's parents' suffering. If I made decisions, I would replace them.

My dad had a hard life growing up, learned to drive at 7 to bring his sisters to their grandparents then he would go back and take care of his raging alcoholic parents and clean up after they fought and passed out. He began handling the check book around 10, worked and payed bills at 14. He’s the nicest man you’ll meet and very very successful in life. The absolute best father you could ask for I’m not playing. Him and my mom divorced and he provided fully for us, cooks, cleans, he’s a clean freak actually, good with money, had a huge heart and helps others.

Airborne Jets spread good if you are good. Spread what you grew up seeing that was evil and become that evil. We have been given a choice. Some grew up and were beaten as kids and chose not to beat their kids. Some were not protected or loved as kids and chose not to do that to their family or friends because they want no part of it in their life anymore. When you are a child you have little choice or control but when grown you have a choice and what happened before in life has nothing to do with your choices or future. What’s not to understand? Usually murder cases take YEARS and that is normal, EVERYONE has the RIGHT TO A FAST AND SPEEDY TRIAL WITHIN 120 days BUT MANY ppl waive their right to the 120 days so they have longer to prepare & the longer it is before trial- ppls memory aren’t as good and there could be reasons ppl that testify against you are not deemed reliable anymore, they could have lost their life (ppl usually associate with ppl like them) & co-defendants- the likelihood of something happening that make it to where they can’t testify against them anymore many things can happen in the years before trial happens. When death penalty is on the table, they have to make sure they have enough time to prepare for trial and that they do it properly so they hopefully they can’t win any appeals they try to do, if you have a public defender- they have SOO many cases and there many that are qualified to work on cases with death penalty if convicted

Ditto for me. My father was physically, emotionally, mentally, and sexually abusive to me. I rarely had enough to eat and lived in no less than 20 different slums and homeless shelters all before the age of 15 (whereupon I ran away from home). I later joined the military, spent 24 years on active duty, along the way I divorced my wife and gained custody of my two boys who later went to BOTH graduate as Valedictorians of their high school three years apart. I despise my father and often pray for his death (he’s still living at 70-the evil ones live forever dontcha know!) but I chose early on to overcome the abuse, neglect, and abject poverty and break the cycle. I did so through a lot of hard work to better myself.

No he's just come to terms with his psychology and what the effects of his childhood had on him, and he's spent time in prison already - years. So he has had time to think about his situation, this is why he is at least cordial with the judge. He has probably accepted or began coming to terms with the thought of dying soon ie. death penalty.

For those wondering why they add these many years after sentencing to death, as we know, laws constantly change, if for whatever reason while the prisoner is waiting their turn to be executed the death penalty is abolished, if the prisoner was sentenced with a death penalty only, then the prisoner would be released. That's why you see they add a lot of years after sentencing someone to the death penalty or life in jail.

@@gmansplit No. Google it. Similar to the “Twinkie defense”, there is a defense known as a “nerd defense”.
