When I was younger, I used to think that the parents of troubled kids were always the problem. But the reality is there is so much happening in a kids world that we can never be sure exactly what has happened to a kid to cause them to go off the rails.

Sometimes you get great kids from horrendous home circumstances...... And sometimes you get awful kids from what appears to be ideal home circumstances. The truth is that nobody can tell what goes on in a home or how it'll affect the individual children in that household. If you're a parent having a problem, the sooner you ask for help and accept that help, the better. Making like an ostrich ISN'T going to work.
@voraciousreader3341

Psychological suffering in adulthood is to some degree a choice, because psychological help is available, often on a sliding scale. When children suffer, their parents too often slide into denial rather than seek out therapy for them, causing emotional issues for everybody that can be easily adjusted in therapy. As a developmental and educational psychologist who is also a parent, a big problem I found is that parents don’t look at the people their children are and instead seem preoccupied with what they want the children to be-HUGE mistake-and they don’t utilize psychological services for their family before huge problems become the reality; it’s like knowing you have cancer but deciding to wait until it’s in Stage 4 before going to the doctor. Seriously, therapy is the best gift people can give themselves, it’s an incredibly positive and healing experience, but they seem to think they should keep trying to avoid their various wounds through overeating, overspending, drinking, drugging, over exercising, or whatever else they can think of. Many are also terrified of death, which is often the root of the whole unhealthy “escape” choices. Therapy is absolutely vital IN CHILDHOOD when parents get the feeling that their kids are struggling, especially where there’s a family history of mental illness, because the mental illness genes are “hot” genes which are more frequently passed down to children than not. But, it seems parents have a great fear of disclosure and a large capacity for suffering when there is absolutely no need for much of it….it really bothers me that we’re into the 21st century, but that people still have such ingrained prejudices about therapy as though they’re in the late 19th century!

@@ruthsmith2447yes, it's why they got rid of children in adult courts, got rid of borstals, ASBOs etc etc etc Secure children's homes have mixed outcomes as well. Unfortunately, some of the kids have more "cases" than they've had hot dinners and they come from backgrounds that are often fraught with issues besides the behaviour of the child. None of the systems for dealing with these troubled kids is a panacea. That's why things change, evolve and hopefully improve..

I like Judge DiSanto but it is always so hard to hear and understand what she says and what litigants say. She talks too fast and keeps shuffling papers and doing things on desk that interfere with microphone. I know she doesn't care if youtube watchers can hear as she is all business but it's a shame as I know she has interesting cases.

Eugenics won't be taken lightly in any society, but after watching a few of these I would ask you all to think carefully about this bro.😂
