I have noticed something about insanely violent people, when they are around children; especially disabled children, and animals, their personality changes for the good. They want to protect the children and animals since they are so innocent and vulnerable. In some US prisons, prisoners who behave themselves are rewarded with the opportunity to train 'unadoptable' dogs or to train them as service dogs. Some prisons allow cats if the prisoner prefers cats. The behavior of the inmates change for the better. They take pride in their animals. They feel proud and a sense of accomplishment knowing they saved the lives of those dogs and other dogs were going to help the disabled. It's hard to say good bye to their dogs but they feel good about themselves knowing what good they have done. THIS is how you rehab prisoners; give them something to accomplish, something to make them feel useful and build their self esteem and self respect. Some get letters from the people who adopt a dog the inmate trained. Some tough inmates are moved to tears with the feelings of pride, accomplishment and even, love.

I can say from personal experience that solitary is NOT rehab. It's only going to make angry or disturbed people much worse. It's easy to want to lash out at your keepers. It doesn't help when the COs see inmates as subhuman.

The way Bronson behaves makes me suspect he has some kind of behavioural disorder. Maybe he has bipolar disorder or potentially even autism, though I doubt he's a sociopath from judging his kindness towards children. Information relating to him being diagnosed with anything probably hasn't been released to the public, but I do hope he was diagnosed with whatever issue he has, and that the prisons tried their best to treat it.
@DRAG0NEERS2 жыл бұрын
Oppositional Defiant Disorder and/or Pathelogical Demand Avoidance (both are closely associated with Autism). Both conditions involve people having a severe response to feeling a lack of control in their environment, triggering a fight, flight, or freeze response. He would definitely fall into the fight category, and solitary confinement would absolutely be a catalyst for such uncontrollable episodes.
