The defendant is a thief, I’m not challenging that. But what I am challenging is the fact that some pawn shops don’t always conduct business legally. They’re shady & unprofessional. And this pawn shop owner is the perfect example of that. Most legitimate businesses keep paper-trails of ALL transactions. This owner came to court with no viable evidence. He should’ve known better than to waste everybody’s time.
@thesmithersy2 жыл бұрын
When you see Pawn Stars for example, you see they take the legal side of things seriously. (reporting everything they buy to the police, asking questions if anything seems odd and carrying out general due dilligence). Clearly this wasn't done here.

Sounds to me like he wants the court to understand that he did not sell the rest of them. he's not trying to prove that they were confiscated, he just doesn't want it said that they were sold. Either he is hoping to sue the defendant again at a later date for the others if he can get proof, or he has some other reason for caring whether the law believes he sold the rest or had it confiscated.
@dianaf60552 жыл бұрын
The great thing is, they signed an agreement to be bound to Judge Judy’s ruling and the case gets closed and can not reopen with any other judge. I think he sold the rest but does not want to admit it and that’s why the police took whatever was left. Not leaving paper trails is the only way to not get caught.

It is especially mentioned when it’s jewelry. My friend was selling her wedding rings (she had just divorced her cheating husband) to a pawn shop, the were paying her 3800 for the set and that waiver was brought up about 10 times during the transition.
