Man struck by Banshee roller coaster at Kings Island

A man was taken to the hospital Wednesday night after reports say he was struck the Banshee roller coaster at Kings Island near Cincinnati.
A spokesperson for Kings Island released the following statement to 3News early Thursday morning:
On Wednesday at approximately 8:00 p.m., a guest entered a restricted, fenced area of the Banshee roller coaster and is believed to have been struck by the ride. The park’s safety and first aid personnel responded immediately to the situation and contacted local emergency responders. The guest was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The ride remains closed while local authorities and park personnel conduct an investigation.
Kings Island’s focus continues to be on the welfare of the guest and his family. There is no additional information to share at this time.
Mason police say the guest -- identified as a 38-year-old man -- was taken to the hospital with what’s being called a “critical injury,” according to NBC affiliate WLWT.

Restricted areas are restricted for a reason, often because the areas are dangerous, especially near rollercoasters. I hate that he was hit and injured, and I hope he has a quick recovery, but he only has himself to blame.

The is the man’s fault for going to the area not the park and and also in the queue it says no loose items should be on the ride so he could have bought a locker or ask someone to hold it

Exactly! By no means am I celebrating his injuries, and I hope he has a fast recovery, but it's hard to feel any sympathy for him. It was 100% preventable and he only has himself to blame. Play stupid games; win stupid prizes.🤷🏼‍♀️

Depending on the park, many have containers on the exit side of the ride you can put stuff in, (drinks, hats, glasses)

@@crusaderkirbo8818this one does not. I just went to Kings Island 2 weeks ago, and Banshee / Mystic Timbers / Orion have lockers that they force you to pay for. I understand why this guy didn’t want to get stiffed on a locker, but you have to watch after your stuff better. When I was on banshee, some guys hat flew into me on the ride. Somehow I was able to catch it and hand it back to him at the end of the ride. But it doesn’t surprise me that this guy’s keys flew out. He was dumb for trying to jump the fence to get them back too

@@crusaderkirbo8818 I don’t believe it will. These are their most popular rides and they have to keep dispatch times at a minimum. Plus, the park can hide behind the “improving loading times” element to justify charging people an up charge just to ride an attraction. It’s not quite a predatory tactic, but it feels like it

I was there on that same day and I rode all the roller coasters and me and my family wanted to get back on the banshee and they said it was closed for the night two days later my brother told me what happened that day😢
