Working in a hospital you get to see how hallucinations can be very real to someone. I've had patients literally get mad and yell at me because I could not see the "person" that is right next to them. There is also those who have a conversation with "a person" and they actually wait for a response. Then they question "the person" as to why they haven't responded back. This is not just "talking to yourself. When you talk to yourself, you don't expect someone else to respond. There is no convincing these people when they are at that state. Reality orientation is difficult. And , yes, it is weird

I find it hard to differentiate between actual memories and shit that I've dreamt up in my mind. I go like 6 days without sleep and I can't tell what's real or what I've imagined. I disagree that the acting wasn't good, Bale's acting was phenomenal imo. I fully agree on the ending. I never expected that the core idea is grief and guilt. A detail I love about this movie is the imagery of Trevor being given the choice of taking the path to Hell or the path to Salvation. During the Route 666 ride, the ride goes to the left (Hell) even though Trevor tries to go to the right (Heaven). While running from the cops, down in the sewer there's 2 tunnels. The one on the left is pitch black, and the one on the right has a light at the end of it, and he goes into the dark tunnel because he sees people approaching from the one on the right. And finally, when Trevor is driving with Ivan, there's 2 highway signs that show the left path goes to the airport, where he can escape but will forever live with what he's done, and the right path goes to Dowtown, where the police station is located. Trevor finally takes the right path, the path towards Salvation, by going to the police station to confess to his crime.

I’m a little confused who Ivan is, is it stevie’s ex he imagines to torment himself or just a random person? Every other person he imagined seemed to have a backstory.
@paro33423 жыл бұрын
Probably random person he imagined because he didnt want to put guilt on himself
@nikolakaravida96703 жыл бұрын
Ivan doesn't exist in reality at all. Ivan is Trevor's consciousness and guilt, incarnated as a hallucination. Notice how at the end of the movie, when Trevor gives himself in, Ivan nods in approval and gestures him farewell.

@@nikolakaravida9670 I know he doesn’t exist and represented Trevor but every other person or thing he imagines has a real life counterpart my thought process was he was imagining stevies ex instead of himself driving the car putting all his hate and blame on somebody else

This reminds me one of Junji Ito's manga stories I just forgot the title. That story is a bit similar to that.

I once went a whole day without two and a half days without eating and sleeping (I still don’t know why I did this but I just didn’t feel the need to do that stuff) and I remember having really bad hallucinations of houses growing (i was playing an online game) and I could see words but I couldn’t process them unless I stared at them for like five minutes. Also I was seeing things and trying to tell if they were real or not. And I could have sworn that there was someone who kept showing up next to me but I can’t really remember. Also I had really bad stomach pains. And here I am at three am watching this. I will never learn :D
