Dude I get it, I fish night tournaments here in Georgia and witnessed a crash at night that killed two people, It was horrific and traumatizing. We heard the collision and were the first people on scene, it was graphic as hell and absolutely horrible/devastating to see what exactly happened. It was the equivalent to a t-bone car crash, so the people that got hit on the side never stood a chance because there was literally nothing to protect them, both people literally took the front end of a bass boat to the head and neck area, the driver was not recognizable, I mean he practically didn't have anything left above the shoulder and the passenger wasn't much better off, you could tell instantly his neck was broke. I mean it was so bad that it was nighttime and the water was stained red if that tells you anything.

This is a good lesson for new boaters and complacent boaters. 2 things are mandatory when the boat is under power: 1) life jackets on. 2) Driver is wearing the kill switch lanyard. Nothing bad comes from doing these 2 things.
@BretAllenStudios5 жыл бұрын
@Shubham Dhingra its a key on a lanyard. If you fall out, it pulls out the key and kills the engine. I think all jetskis have them. Lots of boats do too on the throttle.

Killswitch is an often red cord with a clip on the end that attaches to the dash of the boat. This red cord is wrapped around the driver's thigh so that if they go overboard, the cable "kills" the power to the boat.

God bless this reminded of my personal experience this hits close to home and I really appreciate you helping the guy.

I used to hate my lanyard when fishing due to the shortness. I changed to ski pass holder looking thing with a rectractable wire in it. It's made from thin cable looking stuff which is fairly flexible and around 8 feet long. So far I've pulled the kill switch multiple times since I still do forget that i'm attached to the kill switch when leaving the boat. I do really like it because it doesnt prevent me from moving around my small boat, but still seems to work incase I'd fall off.

You can still be thrown out of the boat even with the kill switch that's what a kill switch is for. The life jacket it's too keep you afloat if you can't swim or if you are knocked out or injured. Bottom line is when the boat is under power you always hook up your kill switch and have your lifejacket on. Safety devices cannot save your life if you do not use them.
