Alex Ferguson had done a great job at Aberdeen after learning his trade at St.Mirren and East Stirling. Man United would never employ a manager with a CV like Ferguson had because of the attitude of people like Goldstein who scoffs at the idea of Mark Robins or Kieran McKenna being offered the job. They go for big names and then don't give them the time to build. Mourinho would've built a squad that has continuous success of he had been given time. They all thought Solksjaer was a joke and out of his depth, i now hear some Man United fans saying "we should've stuck with Ole". It's like Arsenal with Unai Emery, he wasn't left with a great Arsenal side, he needed time to build. Spoilt Arsenal fans didn't have any patience and mocked him for the language barrier. Look at the success he had with Villarreal, Sevilla and now Aston Villa. Emery would've won the title and the Champions League at Arsenal had he been given the time. All the best mangers were given time to build a squad and let it develop. Now with clubs like Man United if you don't challenge for everything within 2 years you get the sack, it's a joke. Villa will give Emery time and i think Newcastle will give Eddie Howe time. Chopping and changing managers overall doesn't work. Sometimes you get a manager & it quickly becomes obvious that they're out of their depth (e.g Steven Gerrard) but for long-term success you have to say to the fans we're giving this manager a minimum of 5 years to build us back to being a top side again. I think Ten Hag is like Gerrard, won a trophy in a poor league but can't cut it in the Premier League, but it Ratcliffe brought in Potter or McKenna he needs to publicly say this is our manager for the foreseeable future so get behind him. But Man United fans and their client journalists will slag them off after 6 months, it's the same with Chelsea and Spurs. Arsenal didn't press the eject button when their fans were calling for Arteta to go, they're now building a squad that will win trophies. Even if Man City win the Title this season by 1 point, eventually Arteta will win the Title given time. But it'll take at least 5 years to get Man United challenging for the title again and that's it they give a new manager 5 years!!

if you look at the United team performances week in week out, then the cold reality is that there's barely a sliver of superiority over Fulham, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and .... Chelsea, the way each are playing right now. Of course it's in the closed season where Man U pull away from the pack, with their spending power engaging top players (supposedly) for inflated prices ....
